The glowplug light on my Merc comes on and goes out as it should, but then comes on again for a short while when the engine's running.... :-\
Would this be an indication of a glowplug starting to fail? or failed?? ??? :(
Thanks! :)

Yep just had a peruse of the Mercedes forums and it looks like a glowplug has failed.... :'( Apparently they are easy to shear off when removing.... :-\ but the good news is that I can get a set for £35! :y

As long as you go gentle with plenty of plusgas.

Run the engine before hand, get it nice & warm all through. This should help big time :y

I've never used Plusgas, is it better than WD40? ???

I was looking through the service history and noticed that the glowplugs were changed in February, so I found a second hand glowplug relay and fitted that instead, but it hasn't made a difference... :(
Is it possible/likely that a glowplug has failed in such a short time? :-\ I suppose it's possible that my second hand relay is no good, but the guy said it'd been tested and he was pretty helpful... so... :-\

The fault indicates a failed glow plug.....just because they were changed six months ago does not mean they are ok :y
Also, fit GOOD ones e.g. Beru or similar

OK Thanks Mark! :y

Much better. Plusgas is a penetrating fluid/oil, WD40 by its title is a water disperser. :y :y :y

Not sure I'd agree :-\ ::)
The 'best' penetrating oil used to be Easit, but it doesn't seem to be around any more. :(

It was something that we had where I used to work, but it came in a black bottle with a red cap. :)
