My check straps are clicking on the Estate so I rang up my local VX Stealer (Marehay VX) to enquire if they have any of the little plastic bush things in stock.
We don't have any & I think we never have had, you'll have to buy the complete Check Strap!! How much is that with my discount? £42.00 :o :o :o :o
I know dealers do sell them, because Mark replaced two on Burt when I first got him & I think he said they were around 20-30p each :-\ :-\
So £84.00 for both doors as opposed to a few pence for some little plastic bushes. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
-
I used to buy packs of those buggers, as I used to get through hundreds when Omegas turn up at my doorstep ;D
Try andyc.
-
Mine is doing the same on the drivers door thats why i hav'nt bought any yet >:(
-
I don't think the bush comes with the check strap anyway.
-
They are talking 'dangle berries' you can order the washers on their own, I bought a bag, got it at home somewhere :-\
-
They are available, although my local dealers never seem to have them in stock. About 60p each now iirc. ;)
-
i need a couple of them too..any idea of a part number :y

The parts guy looked on the computermebob & couldn't find them :-\
If anyone would like to send me two, I would gladly pay for them & postage :y :y
Failing that, I'll try AndyC as Jamie says. Thanks Jamie :y

Thank you yet again Rob :y Now I have some info, I shall hit them again ;)
-
It's a game I play. Ask for the part by description. They always come back with the same reply as you had. And swear blind they don't have any in stock either.
Then give them the part no. And watch the faces go red, ESP as they usually have the part in stock IME. ;D
Its a bit unfare though. The info they have doesn't help find the the bush itself.

does door card need to come off just to fit that little thing to stop that horrid click
-
does door card need to come off
Nope. Two 10mm spanners and some grease is all you need iirc. :)
-
Nope.remove the nut & bolt (visible when you open the door) and lift out the bush, set the new one in place and replace the nut & bolt. five minute job. :y
Nut & bolt are number 14 & 12 in Robs diagram. ;).....must type faster...... :D

It's a very simple fix & all that you need is two spanners. Just undo the check strap on the door pillar & replace the little round plastic bush.

I was allways told to use silicon type grease on plastic parts as mineral grease can rot some plastic parts.
-
I fit the bushes dry :-\
-
I use vaseline. :y...............I heard you did too. ;D

I've always run out ::)
-
No, just undo the (10mm spanner) nut and bolt that goes through the bush (see Robs diag)
I recently replaced one on the new Estate (remember buying a pack of 4 of them) - got "TC" price as well :y
Edit - must type much, much faster!! Vaseline always helps TB :) :) ;)

But we are slow ;D will probably find something else to do once we have done both cars if were not too tired after the bushing's ;D
-
i didnt bother with grease ...hardest part was opening the door ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
yeah jobs a piece of p...
getting the strap back in to where it sits just involved wiggling it while slowly opening the door further.
like TB i went un-lubed too! :o :o :o ;D
-
Im not surprised they break , the things look very flimsy ...hopefully i wont break it when putting in otherwise ill be using martins spares ;D
-
i also had to replace the nut and bolt as well, because i think some cowboy of a dealer tried to sort the death crack by replacing the nut and bolt for the wrong size :y
-

Not seen them break, but they do wear.
The item is quite robust in its fitted position :)

Resorted to the hammer an nail method :-X Endless wiggling did nothing as they were a tight fit , no more cracking doors :y
