Could this replace your miggi in a few years??

I personlaly like it, but what do you all think?

WOW!!! :y
-
Looks good, but is not rear wheel drive :(
-
It's from the BMW school of styling by the look of it, which isn't a good thing, IMHO. Maybe it'll grow on me.

Hit the nail on the head. The article in the Sun yesterday (I found it in the canteen ..... Honest ;)) was already comparing it to a 5 series. How when they don't even share the basic drive layout?
-
Here's a picture, Looks very bmw'ish

I do like it, but it seems to be a bit of a departure from the current Vx front end family look which I really like. I think that the same car with a more Vectra C look to the front end would be nicer.

This appears at last to be a worthy successor to the Omega; it just looks and sounds superb :y :y Lizzie Zoom :D ;D

No. Too big for that! Lizzie Zoom ;D

a replacement for the Omega, will have to be RWD.
If/when a new Omega comes out, its still going to have the same problem old ones had, massive depriaction. So only makes sense to buy them 5 years later... so even if a new one came out tommorow. I would not buy until 2013!
If/when i need to replace my Omega, i will be looking towards old shape BMW 5 Series..
-
Yes it is better to get a RWD car but then this will come with the option of all wheel drive so could be a contender in 5 years.
-
It's wrong wheel drive :( >:(
-
The problem is, the 4wd options on most modern cars don't hide the fact that it's essentially set up as a front wheel drive car with a few token LbFt of torque sent to the rears. Yes, it might have better traction than a FWD car (i'd hope so with 260 BHP), but it's bound to have a rock hard suspension setup, understeer, etc.

It doesn't look massively removed from the latest Holden Commodore (which I actually prefer and is RWD)

Don't understand this - why all the FWD bias - even with 4WD - even part time off roaders are going wrong wheel drive for two wheel drive

A proper RWD car like the meega will have a longitudal engine buried as far back as possible within the engine bay with a hefty gearbox behind it, contribution to balanced raod holding (and annoying HBV access...).
A FWD car turned into AWD will either have a transverse engine (e. g. Golf) or will have the engine leaning forward over the front axle to allow the front wheels to be driven (e.g. Audi). Yes, with clever suspension settings and some computer wizardry this can be compensated for, but there is nothing to replace the sure-footed experience of driving a heavy RWD car that has been designed and screwed-on properly old-school style!
Said that, I may have to venture back into the FWD domain after the meega, unless I find a decent-priced Merc... Sorry, but I am no BMW or Jag fan.
In which case I may consider a Saab.... not straying too far away from
the Omega as the Saab is essentially a better-built Vectra... well no exactly, but near enough.

after omega
i say Honda legend old shape
or s class
for me .
-
Hmm -- on first sight I don't like it --- Omega has smooth lines, which I prefer --- but, as others have before, I expect it will grow on me.
-
I like it.
I also thought with most 4x4 cars (not off roaders) they split the drive 60/40 with the 60 going to the rear. Or has something changed recently.

I personlaly like it, but what do you all think?
When considering how great this car is or not, and whether 4WD is the thing to go for I think we should all remember that the Chancellor will be levying significant tax increases (£'000) on these types of cars! We may have the stupid situation whereby these cars in five years time will cost £2,000, but the road tax will set you back £3,000 per year! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Photo printed tax discs false plates - make it too expensive and a large proportion of road users will do this
