Title: driveshafts
Post by: gisajob1 on 03 September 2012, 08:40:04
I have a 2.2 omega saloon 2003 in the year which has a whine which seems to be coming from the rear of the car (could be driveshafts) have changed the rear tyres which reduced the noise quite a bit as they felt as though they had bumps over the tread area but the noise still there, I,am sure it sounds like a bearing :-[ :'(

There is a guide, if that helps. Dif seals often leak at these sorts of miles.

While under there, its worth checking the drive shaft rubber boots for splits, an mot fail. They rarely cause problems apart from that though, afaik.

Try another dif?

I assume it's a road speed related noise? Not rpm related? I've heard exhausts whistle and whine, believe it or not.
