I have a 2.2 omega saloon 2003 in the year which has a whine which seems to be coming from the rear of the car (could be driveshafts) have changed the rear tyres which reduced the noise quite a bit as they felt as though they had bumps over the tread area but the noise still there, I,am sure it sounds like a bearing :-[ :'(

Check dif oil level?

Thanks for that will check

There is a guide, if that helps. Dif seals often leak at these sorts of miles.
While under there, its worth checking the drive shaft rubber boots for splits, an mot fail. They rarely cause problems apart from that though, afaik.

Hi my car is doing the same some one described the noise as an old bus whine!! I checked the diff oil and it was fine also somedays its quieter than others
-
no one have any other ideas??

Try another dif?
I assume it's a road speed related noise? Not rpm related? I've heard exhausts whistle and whine, believe it or not.
