Title: 2003 Elite estate parking sensors stopped working
Post by: Phil L on 03 September 2012, 22:30:23
My sensors have given up !  I've seen a thread in relation to locating the saloon's parking sensor box of tricks, but not for the estate.  Has anyone got any advice ?  I would buy a Haynes manual but can't find one for the facelift model - is there one ?
Thanks,
Phil

Have they stopped working completely .. ie totally silent ... or do you get the continuous "error" sound  ??

If totally silent check the power supply (fuse) and the connection to the speaker.

If the continuous "error" tone .. then remove the 430 Ohm resistor .. in the estate its in the rear nearside light cluster - looks like a blade fuse - then try the reverse selection again .. there will be a number of beeps that should tell you which sensor has gone faulty.

The sequence of tones is in this thread from some while back !

Thanks for your reply... They're totally silent.
Can you point me to the fuse and speaker locations ?
Phil

Park pilot control box and speaker is by the rear nearside light cluster I think on the estate, my copy of the handbook does not list the fuse location !!!

Probably failed speaker if it's silent. A case of finding the box and tracing the braided wire (on mine anyway) back to the speaker.

On my saloon the speaker was in the roof lining between sunroof and door, above the passengers head.

Not certain that will be the same on the estate though. :-\

Speaker in an estate is under the head lining at the top of the C-Pillar on the passenger side.

That's interesting, a point worth remembering  :y
