Forget the "max power" crap that some mags tell you, as long as you have a decient spark / coilpack / leads, thats all you need  ;)

Give the car a bloody good service first, it will make a difference  :y

If you want to give your 2.5 a good 15 bhp more, stick a set of 3 litre cams in it.

While your fitting them, get your cam belt and water pump done at the same time too.

Fairy dust.

Whatever bullshit you may have read, bugger difference will a magic-sooper-dooper-just-released-nobody-knows-about-it-yet-iridium-go-faster-stripe-stripe plug make.

You will only notice an improvement if your old plugs are past their best.

GM's own twins is what I use, as they are around £3 each from the dealer if you have Tradeclub access. I change them every 20-30k, and I use LPG (LPG requires a stronger spark than petrol)

I think some of the members here will find this debate interesting..

I must note , the statement "what the car was designed with" is not valid imo as the cars manufacturing costs are tried to be lowered in every case.. so they are not engineered to be the best because of cost factor..

In the case on our cars, the GM ones are plenty good enough, and (for UK owners with TC access) cheap enough.

There is zero benefit in running/performance/economy in fitted better marketed, more expensive plugs in this case.

Buy the most expensive ones you can find.

You will believe that your car is running much better/smoother/faster/more economically/sexier after you've fitted them.  It won't really be, but as long as you think it is, what the hell does that matter?!  :y

We used to fit plugs as the book said. On one occasion a customer brought his own super 4  prong plugs to fit during a very low mileage service!! He came back 5 mins later wanting to see us take the plugs out coz his car was no faster!!!! And he was convinced we hadn't put HIS plugs in and had kept the super duper plugs for our selves that says it all for me!!!  :y
