Passive 3d i believe doesnt give you full 1080p in 3d .
I think only the active 3d does that .... i am happy to be proved wrong though.
That was the information i was given when considering my choice  :y

It's the lower end Sharp model though, if it's the one I think it is (736 rather than 836) ;)

I have active 3D, Samsung 51 inch. IMO its better than a mates passive. We got ours around 8 months ago at comet. £670 with 2 pairs of glasses, the glasses to buy separate we're £60 a pair so pretty good deal I thought.

The problem with active 3d is the expensive glasses, also they always run out of power when you want them. You need quite a few pairs, to keep some spare charged.

It is a much better though :)

Guess it depends how often you use them. As said I've had mine around 8 months, watched a few 3D films in that time, as well as football ( excellent in 3D) and a fair few programmes on sky's 3D channel. Haven't had to change battery yet.

Must admit the first time I watched 3D was at he flicks, was weird for the first 10 mins but soon forgot I was even wearing them. Doesnt bother me at all.

When looked at them in various shops I just couldn't get on with Active....using my eyes I could see constant flickering...PLUS the glasses were bigger and heavier than Joe 90's.

Fortunately my local store was price matching (courtesy of Curry's) so they dropped another £100.00

Off home to set it up and have a play...THAT said, haven't told the wife yet....wondering how the hell I'm gonna convince her that the existing HD TV needed replacing after only 3 years.
Might not be online for a while as not sure Ipswich Hospital has wi-fi ?
