I assume the surround is metal instead of just the top and bottom bars as is most common? ???

Not quite the complete item is solid :y
-
Just to let everyone know that I have put a bid in on this. Not that I would want to stop anyone else from having a go too, but I thought it only fair to mention it. :y

But you haven't got a dog, unless the situation has changed with the new house :-\ :-\
Must admit, I considered it but as I have a crate in the boot for my hound the fabric one is sufficient for my needs really

Having just seen the location,Im guessing you will want a local friendly oofer to collect it ? ::)

Not at the moment, but might have one soon.
In the mean time I want it as a solid load guard. :y

I know what you mean... I prefer to have something there, especially if I'm loading the boot up :y
I have a feeling that it's only the frame that's metal though (but may well be wrong) and the mesh is still "string" for wont of a better description :-\ :-\
-
I have had several omega estate dog guards and they all have been metal mesh exactly like the one you are looking at in the advert....the string type mesh ones are a different shape and not the same shape as the metal ones... :y

I stand corrected then :y :y :y

Dont you buddy,pal me whippersnapper. :P :D

I have the string type but the dog squeezes past it and geys into the rest of the car and with her past history I want to stop her and Marie's guard was brilliant but she always locked the car when away from it...... ;D ;D ;D
-
That one looks rigid, one in our facelift Estate (Genuine GM) has metal top and bottom, but has no sides, as it can be folded up.
-
i could possibly get it bought up here as family live in brentwood essex and always down there, ive got the same one in mine as have 2 clever staffys who could also pass the string one, to really upset them i fitted the rear barjo gaurd to allow boot to be left open in hot weather

Lol mine is great it's having a respray this week asked hubby to spray it black :y
Never normally lock my car but someone let slip he wanted mine and was going to steel it while I was sleeping lol
-
Bet it will look great in black....you are not going to pick fault with it after hubby has done it for you...are you....you will have to cook him a very nice meal and have a nice bottle of red wine to go with it just to say thank you hubby. :) :y

yeah i hope it does :y
possibly might ;D ;D
and he can make his own scran!!! unless he wants food poisoning ;D ;D

Mine had one fitted when I bought it :y
Good points: nothing will get past it, so you can literally fill the boot right upto the roof without decapitating people. Can be used in the foward position in the same way as the net one, only catch being that it's not full height. :y
Bad points: sqeaks and rattles like a bastid, and when tensioned in place, it can be difficult to get the seats to lock into place :-\ doesn't fold up either.
Were I to aquire a second Omega I would buy another one in an instant :y
-
Odd, one in ours is strapped in & does not make a sound :y
-
our did rattle too but twobits of foam between the strap and the back of the seat fixed that.
can be a bit difficult to get the seats to lock in place sometimes we have to slam them inplace.
ilike it cos i know if we have to break heard in the car my hounds are not going to come through the dog guard and end up on top of my wee man :y :y

Not at all surprised for a couple of reasons, but partly...That one looks rigid, one in our facelift Estate (Genuine GM) has metal top and bottom, but has no sides, as it can be folded up.
At risk of being a stuck record...I have had several omega estate dog guards and they all have been metal mesh exactly like the one you are looking at in the advert....the string type mesh ones are a different shape and not the same shape as the metal ones... :y
Mine is the full frame metal mesh one, a genuine VX part. :y
The roll up type that were possibly standard will never sqeak and rattle because, by virtue of rolling up and having a fabric/nylon mesh, they are not rigid ::)
-
Indeed... But the crate that I have in the back for the hound rattles like a bastid! ::) ::)
-
So basically you could lose the dog cage, gain a sidgen more boot space and keep the rattle :-\
Sounds like a win/win/ er... rattle ;D

Prefer the crate TBH, means when I open the boot the dog can't bolt for freedom (she's only a pup after all ;)) and also I can leave the boot open when parked and she's still secured ;)
