Title: Advice needed Laptop WiFi question
Post by: Big_Al on 14 September 2012, 08:00:31
Hi all
This is probably a really simple thing to do but,  not too good with computers so need some help .

I am away for the weekend and staying at a hotel that says it has  has wi fi availability . So if I take my laptop with me can I get internet access  while I am staying there ?

If so what do i do to get online ? :-[ :-[ :-[

TIA     :y Al

You will be able to search for Wifi connection, if its free then you may have to create an account to connect so they can make sure you aren't doing anything dodgy (only used if Police say child porn downloaded etc)
Speak to reception staff when you check in they will help you :y

If your laptop has wifi then yes.

All you will need to do is ask at reception for the name and password for the network - they frequently have this printed reday to hand you.

You will just then connect to that network & away you go.

Al be careful as some hotels say free wi fi...if you buy a bundle...and it is not cheap...premier inn i think give you the first 30 mins free...you may need a key for it though... :y

Unless it is 100% free, normally cheaper to tether from your mobile IMHO.
