Title: Auto box

What makes my 2.6 hold on to 3rd gear and then thuds into 4th sometimes bringing the spanner light on,
when stopping the car switching off and restarting the car light goes out.

This only happens when the engine is hot stop car switch off start the car go through the gears and comes to 3rd and as
stated above, ones the car has done this it works fine 

starting from cold works fine

Any answers lads or does all this sound double dutch
Gear oil and filter has been changed

My code reader only does the engine not the auto box

If you are ever up in Newcastle i can read the auto box ecu codes for you
