OK. I know what you'll all say, but mine is still connected.
Alarm has gone off twice tonight and I'm not sure if there's a fly in the car. I've isolated the cabin sensors but just in case the PS is on the way out, is there any way I can isolate it to prevent any "accidents".
Thanks
John

It cannot be "isolated" and it is not fused .. :( Thats half the problem ... have you heard 4 little "beeps" at any time ?? usually on switch off ?? if so that is the PS telling you the batteries have not charged properly ... either replace or remove the PS ASAP ... :(

Unplug it .................. NOW ;)
Quite a few on here have lost there cars due to the powersounder bursting into flames.
Its just not worth the risk imo

I am going to change my HBV tomorrow so may disconnect the powersounder same time, is it a case of just unplugging it? Wont that make it go off? Do i have to remove it and beat it to death with a sledgehammer? ;D
-
Yep,remove it. :y

On newer cars it's worth cutting the ps open carefully with a hack saw and see if the battery acid has damaged the internal circuit board. If not, if your at all handy with electronics, and I'm not, then those that are tell me it's quite easy to solder in new battery's.
£50 for a new ps saved and a properly working alarm system. :y
-
sorry to hi-jack th thread, mine has been disconected but not removed.
Is it easier to...............
Just connect the alarm 'horn'?
or
Buy a new ps and connect it all back up?
And if i get a new ps, will i have to replace it in a few years time, so it dosnt spontaniously combust?

easiest way to keep the alarm working is to buy a new ps, but they are almost £50 new. Hence soldering batteries option.
All depends on your approach to your car I suppose. Given the worth of these cars now it's arguably not worth the expense or agro to keep them all up together. But that's not how I view it at all personally.
Which reminds me, I must fix my wing mirror memory function. :-[

think i saw on here that when you unplug them.then alarm goes of for about 5 min..

The Ps is there to detect when the battery is disconnected as part of a theft attempt.
If the battery is disconnected correctly, the PS will not go off at all.
Correct method is .. ignition on then off, disconnect battery within 15 seconds. Easiest way to achieve this is to loosen the 0v (earth) side of the battery, then do the ignition on/ignition off then just lift off the 0v (earth) connection .... seemples .. :)
PS will remain silent and can be disconnected with ease .. :)

There is no need to disconect the regular 'mechanical' horn next to the powersounder as that can't overheat, and if I'd gone to all the bother of disconecting the p/s then I don't think I would have 'risked' leaving it on the vehicle at all.
