hello, 2.6 v6. the temp gauge is reading zero, ive had all the fuses checked and the sensor replaced, the one at the very back of the block, a very tricky job to do, anyway all that is done and still nothing. so either the gauge inside the instrument cluster is at fault which i really hope isnt the fault or its something else. has any experts here got any ideas what else could cause this. the little red light at the bottom of the gauge does work on ignition and everything else seems good. thanks for any help out there. ps, how comes i cant get a haynes or similar for this. thanks.

Hayes manual only covers pre-facelift, but they are close enough for most things.
Temp sensor is actually quite easy to get to, just quick plenum off job. Sure the little brass connector is all good?
Check the dash is fully seated by pushing it back, its actually a 5 minute job to take the dash out :)

arr thanks sir. i take it the plenum is this metal thing that covers most of the engine, my mech changed the sensor without taking that off but it dont work and all the fuses good. im going to get the mot done and then get back to it, i will check out the dash end, but as far as you know there couldnt be any other sensor or anything that would cause a zero reading. thanks for letting me know your advice.

Impossible. I posted a pic of it`s location in your other post and you can see for yourself that the plenum has to come off

Really? :o - I'm considered to have quite girl like hands, not sure I can reach that sensor with plenum still on. Did you know if he removed the scuttle?
In fact, no. I'd be very surprised if they did actually change the sensor. You need to take fuel rail and plenum off to reach that sensor.
The sensor is in the coolant bridge, the brass connector is what feeds the gauge. :y

ok then, all this is good. is it easy to take the plenum off. anyway my mech definitely did change it, i was here all day and i watched him and he took it out in front of me, maybe he didnt want to take the plenum off for a reason and he has changed it because he had the new one in his hand and showed me the old one. 100 percent changed without the plenum coming off, clearly if its easy to take the plenum off then the job should have been easier so i dont know why he didnt take that off, i will ask about that. but putting that to one side, in your expert opinion is there any item that could be at fault to cause my problem. thanks
