Removed the Power Sounder today, there where no Chirps,no funny sounds and no false alarms ???
I only did for piece of mind, going by all the recent posts. But as you can see from the pics that PCB+ batteries look new to me.[imhttp://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh578/johnhmp/Omega%20005_zps0c9e6777.jpgg][/img]

The way I see it is that they put these powersounders into LOT's of GM vehicles and you just don't see Astra's, Vectra's, Omega's etc. on fire everywhere.
...may be last owner stuck a new one in there...
If you look at the picture 'Jimbob' posted up you can just make out a round symbol with an arrow in the centre, it's on the lower left of the rear case, that will tell you when the item was made.

It will be made just prior to the car being built. It's not possible to tell if the circuitry is damaged from that pic, but any slight battery acid will leak from the ends of the battery from under that green plastic shrink wrap.
There may be slight leakage, there may not. But provided the circuit board is ok, then that's in a perfect state to solder in new battery's and re fit. Better to catch it earlier than when it's too late. Is they WILL leak eventually. :y

I've only seen that style fitted to the later facelift models, so it might have been replaced already. As said, there'll be a date on the back of the case.
