Just a quick tip on this.Instead of paying out for a dedicated car window cleaner,do as we do at work and use screen wash fluid heavily diluted with water,it's much cheaper and works a treat!

Doesn't cut through the grime IME. I use that Mr Muscle window cleaner. Green liquid. With work it will allow the rain drops to ball up and the wind blows it away. Sadly doesn't last though. Slightest bit of grease and it breaks the surface tension of the water. Then the wipers spread it across the screen and it's back to a smeary square one. :(

Have you tried "Rain-X?"

I hear nothing but good things. Never really needed to use it myself but will be buying some soon.

I use the halfords equivalent and it is good. At speeds over 50mph you literally do not have to use your wipers as the rain just beads off the screen. You do have to reapply if you wash the car or every few weeks of normal use

RainX. Tried that and some of the other types that are supposed to do the same job. Now I have about 4 of them and as far as I am concerned none were worth the money at about a fiver a toss! They might deflect the rain for a while but I found that if you have to use the wipers it starts to smear and the vision is affected. Its a real bugger to remove it too and I ended up carefully using cellulose paint thinners cos it was the only thing that worked.
I have now gone back to the old way of using coarse paper (newspaper) and warm water with a splash of white vinegar in it. Works every time and gets rid of all the traffic film and greasy spots. A quick polish with a bit of clean paper and thats the job done.
 :D After you have cleaned the glass do not forget to clean the blades too or they will just put back on the muck you have spent time cleaning off!
Sometimes the old ways just cannot be beaten...................there again I am an old bugger anyway ;D ;D ;D ;D

I use Dodo Juice - makes the water bead nicely and doesn't make it all too smeary. Spray on and buff off with a microfibre cloth, inside and out.
