Title: A year on...
Post by: TheBoy on 23 September 2012, 18:22:25
...from migrating OOF from YaBB to SMF, 23rd Sep 2011. These are the software packages that ran/run OOF.

A year of amazing stability (bearing in mind how we run this site like a bunch of cowboys), and virtually no unexpected (or even expected) outages, except when I had to physically move the server, and the broadband upgrade at the same time.

A good job we didn't hang on for YaBB 3, as its still nowhere near ready for release  :-X.  That said, I still miss YaBB's clean, uncluttered appearance, and always feel at home when I stumble upon a YaBB powered site :)

But SMF has proved to be ultra stable and reliable for us. Its fast, and the search function actually works, so all in all its been, with hindsight, a good move.

Now that I've banged on about how good/reliable/fast OOF has been for the past year, I need an outage to fix a filesystem capacity issue, so expect an outage announcement soon ;D

I must say that I am always pleased with the fast response times on OOF which put many so called professional sites to shame.

Well done TB  :y

In the past year I've spent 15 days, 15 hours and 33 minutes on OOF!  :o

It's been interesting, informative, helpful, funny, educational and saved me a shed load of cash!!  :y :y :y

Keep up the good work!!  :-*
