looking to get a definite answer to this. i dont have a sticker on my diff (well cant find one) so i jacked up the rear end and spun the prop and both wheels spun in same direction. then i spun one wheel and the other spun the same way.
now going by when i had a sierra that was how to identify an lsd, going buy this method it means ive a lsd in my car.
would i be right saying it is an lsd?

Best way to be certain is to remove the cover plate on the diff and see, or perhaps see how it behaves when you drive 'spiritedly'.

As above, or remove a drive shaft from the diff & look down the hole. If there's a cross, you've a LSD, if just one drive 'slot' then you've not. :y

Which models had lsd fitted as standard?

Any juddering when pulling away on full lock?

none! ;) ;) It was an option ..... even on white Plod cars. :y

thanks for the quick replies :)
i know its hard to tell buy driving spiritedly cause when id my old omega i could of sworn there was an lsd in it but when the diff decided it had enough i found out it wasnt when i removed it.
is there enough room to remove the cover plate in the car without having to drop the diff or remove shafts?

+1 about the taking out the driveshaft to have a look inside. The best way to identify :)
In Norway, all Omega B's that came trough the official importer have the lsd as standard ;)
But it was wery scearing when I bought my first 4 pot, the 2001 2,2...it has no TC :-\
With the automatic and wet ice, I learned quickly that the use of cruisecontrole is a no no in the winter :D

Sehen what happened with cc in winter? A bit uncontrolable?
Do both ends of the driveshaft have splined shafts? Are the hard to take out with diff still in place? Anything else have to come of? Hub or anything?

Ive a 99 3.0 elite. They guy i bought it of said the was an lsd fitted. It does leave 11s on the road and it does do circles. Just will spin one wheels sometimes. Was going to change oil in it and see what happens but would like to know if its and lsd before i buy the oil

There is some sort of "Scandinavia-package" which included at least LSD, bigger battery, DRL relay, dunno what else. That's why most of the cars also here have lsd fitted, although have seen/heard a few being without lsd :-\

Kind of uncontrolable yes.... when the cc want's to maintain the speed uphill, it sometimes makes a kickdown, and with a LSD on the car on icy roads, it suddenly goes sideways. With oncomming traffic... you've got the picture?
Really not an issue on the V6, as it have the TC, and that's what I'm used with :D

Send your reg number to jimbob via pm and ask nicely ;D
He can tell you what it left the factory with but tbh, if it started off as a elite I doub't it will have come with one :-\

Id say it would be a pretty safe bet to say it didnt leave factory with one but its suposed to of had one fitted by a previous owner
