Hello,
I have recently done a wvo conversion on my 95 Omega 2.5 TD, but I have trouble figuring out the coolant cirquit. I have a coolant heated system for my waste vegetable oil, but I can't get high enough temps. I have a flat plate heat exchanger, coolant heated filter and hose in hose fuel supply.
Currently, I have added a aux. coolant pump on the tee where the expansion tank / coolant over flow tank normally is fitted. (This is a tee off the black steel pipe that goes into the heater matrix.) Is this the heater matrix supply line or return line? It comes out of the front head of the engine, right next to the thermostat. I was hoping that this was the supply line, as this is recommend to get most heat for my wvo? The other line that goes out of the heater matrix is behind the engine and nearly impossible to get to, so I'm really hoping that this is the return line.
If my understanding is correct of the coolant circuit, then my problem would probably be that the flat plate heat exchanger is placed higher than the coolant line. I would probably have to move it.
Hope to hear from you guys soon. Excuse me if my writing is a bit hard to understand, English is not my first language.
By the way, the Omega runs smoothly on veggie oil, at least so far - done about 3000 km so far.

you need a decent wvo heater matrix like the the one below.

Fit in the supply to the vehicle matrix.
Check out this site for more info regarding fitting and compatability of the pump and engine.

Thank you for your reply.
I already have one of those, but my question is which one of the hoses to the heater matrix is the supply line?
The one from the front of the 2.5 TD engine or the back? The one from the front is where the expansion tank is fitted.

If you are using the feed to the expansion tank I doubt this will flow enough coolant to give you significant heat. What you need is to intercept the feed from the engine to the heater bypass valve (since the actual feed to the matrix is switched by this valve, you need to get in before it).
I can't remember where this is located on a TD, though. I'm sure someone will be along soon who does. :y

I think I just figured it out. Unfortunately, it seems like the one with the expansion tank is the return line.
Thats too bad because the other one is nearly impossible to get to without taking the intake off..

It will feed the heater bypass valve, though, not directly into the matrix like that diagram, and I have a feeling the heater bypass valve is not that inaccessible on a TD.

HBV on TD is on turbo side of head. Its not a diverter valve like petrols, its a simple on/off :)

Ahh. I'm thinking of the DTI. So, this explains why the return from the matrix isn't working.

Thanks for you input.
So in other words, I need to connect my WVO coolant system on the heater bypass valve?
Is it near the turbo? Do I access it from underneath the car? Haven't seen a single coolant line near the turbo, except the ones to the aux. coolant pump, but I haven't looked under the car yet.

What does this mean? How does this valve work in practice? On photos, I see that the 2.5 TD HBV only has 2 water ports? The other Omegas have 3 ports?

By the way, I don't have aircondition, so the thread linked below leads me to believe I don't have a HBV?

Quite possibly, in which case the return from the heater matrix should be flowing permanently and hot enough. :-\
