Turkey shelled Syria yesterday in retaliation for the death of 5 Turkish citizens including 3 children from a stray Syrian Mortar. >:(
They have resumed shelling Syrian military targets again today and their Parliament have voted through a law authorizing military operations in Syria for the next 12 months. >:(

Is this just a skirmish or are Turkey and Syria going to end up at war? If it war what do Turkey hope to gain from this? Oil? ::)
If so are they playing a dangerous game with Russian backing of the Syrian resume and where the Russian Mediterranean fleet is based in a Syrian port? :o

Who was it on here that wanted to build a fallout shelter ?

It will be fine as Tuyrkey doesn't want a war with Syria.
However if push comes to shove then NATO will help out. Then all the economic woes will be sorted at a stroke. Sell your utility shares and Buy shares in munitions companies and cash in on the forthcoming misery.

when there is lack of brain cells, so many bad things can happen.. :(
supporting this "free syrian army" of bandits nonsense seems to open more trouble than anyone can guess.. >:(
and as you can guess no one listens to citizens :( but still I dont expect a stupid war for that reason..

I wish you and your country well Cem and hope you don't get dragged into that mire .

Unfortunately, do-gooder Western politicians, judge everybody by their standards, where Middle Eastern countries have tended to have strong autocratic leaders, with brief periods of democracy or weak royal families normally being ended with military coups.
Now I'm sure with our backing of various groups that several Middle Eastern countries are going remain much worse than they were and in fact to date all of the uprisings have not achieved the do-gooder's objectives of democratic rule and we may end up with several failed states ending up like Afghanistan or Somalia or they being very like Iran. In other words the do-gooders with their meddling have made things much worse. >:(

Rods, very wise words which the truth in them is proven by the time and events.. :y
You, as a far man can see from that distance, but unfortunately so many politicians and their millions of voters here are blind to truth.. :(

I can't find the video that shows you how but basically you get a kitchen table (if you haven't got one a plastic garden table will do), drape a large cloth or two over it (it is going to be noisy, maybe gassy and a lot of dust). Cover with a polythene sheet ( a decorators sheet £1 from a pound shop will do. ) Then the important stuff. Move the fridge on an extension cable under the table and make sure you have copious amounts of Marstons Pedigree and aged single malt whisky. A box of Mars bars will also be useful as you may (or may not) wake up hungry). HTH

During one tacval in germany, a officer ask my what the procedure was if I was told that nuclear attack was imminent.
Aparently shagging the wing comanders daughter then trying to catch the bugger was not the answer :-* :-*
It got me 4 weeks weekend gate guard duty for my honesty slip of the tounge :-[ :-X
Good old section 69, my favorite rule ;D ;D

WW3? ::) As Rods has pointed out Syria has close ties with Russia and as a NATO member Turkey has the backing of most of the Western world... I expect the Chinese will sit on the fence and work out how they can profit from the situation!! ::)
On a lighter note, I've recently dug up and relaid a concrete floor. I think I should have kept digging! :-\
