Title: Flat
Post by: Bo Bo on 27 October 2006, 16:42:38
Had a knock at the door about an hour ago.
Neighbour informed me I've got a flat tyre, great!  [smiley=sad.gif]
Could I crack the wheel bolts? Could I ****, managed to bend the bar & scratch the wheel when it flew off!
Called the AA & got them to change it (pretty good was here in 20mins).

Some heavy handed mechanic last had the wheel off (my brother!) wait til I see him next!

Know what you mean Bo, I had a blow out on the M1 going to Alton Towers with a car load of kids a couple years ago. Couldn't shift any of the wheel nuts with the useless wheel brace supplied with the car (and it's no fun trying to do it on the hard shoulder!!). Had to call the AA who were there in about half an hour, and he had a hell of a job getting them off too. Then, guess what.....the bloody spare was not only flat but also knackered! ( Eventually managed to limp to the nearest exit and found a tyre centre. Not a good experience!! >:(

That sucks.  I believe in torquing wheels.

A friend of mine has center-locks.  You can't do those on anything but pavement or the wheel spins, and you should see the size of the torque wrench!  :o

Markiec,
nip down to your local friendy tyre place and see if they can shock them off with the impact wrench air gun. The pulsing action should break the seal and not your sockets  ;)

Cheers Jim

Finally got round to getting my tyre checked & there was a nail in it, got it plugged.
Asked him to check the other rear 'cos it's got a slow puncture & there was a nail in that as well!  :(
Got that plugged too, £10 all in  :)
