Two and half years ago I had the Lotus Carlton resprayed. It was a proper pucker job. Two new rear doors I'd been storing since about 1992 were fitted. Some of the panels had to be taken back to bare metal to cure previous reactions and the front bumper had over 21 layers of paint removed to bring it back to tip top condition. Infarct being fibre glass both bumpers had nasty cracks and a lot of work was done to dig them out, stop drill and repair. The front bumper had over two days of prep work to get it right. 3 coats of primer five of colour and 3 of lacquer were applied. Lot's of other little bits were repaired and even the engine bay had been done when I had the engine out. So she looked mint. It was like starring through glass. The colour is so deep and this is before it's had any sort of finishing polish done. The guy I use had really given it a lot of time and had the car for 4 months. So I got the car home with all the bits now living in my spare room as it was my job to rebuild it up as it had been mine to strip it. I got it in my garage made sure I had gas for the heater then I just left it. Did a few hours on it just to get it movable but nope the spark had gone I just couldn't even look at it. She's been sat there all this time without a cover on and is covered in dust. It's sad to see. The paint job was 3800 and I just couldn't of cared. Yesterday I went out and had a clean up of the man cave. Cleaning all the shit out putting stuff away. I brushed past the LC and BAM!!!! this dark green Imperial paint (under cloud all LC's look black) caught the light streaming in from the door way. The colour was amazing the green just comes to life. Well I finished off cleaning the garage and came in. Today while I've been watching the world supers it kept nagging me. When the grinner got beat by half a point I went out in the garage I thought I'd just have a quick look to see if I can find all the bits still. Next thing I know I'm squeezing sikaflex on to skirt kits, fitting lower door body panels and generally getting on with it and enjoying myself. The wife was helping and even the kids were out there with me being as good as gold playing at being "shop keepers" and dishing out the bolts and washers when I asked for em. I can't understand what's changed. I've grown to hate the wretched thing. I've piled over 10k into it since I brought around 5 years ago. Maybe that was the issue but today it was like old times. So I'm guessing I've been suffering some sort of illness. So which do you think it was?

It would be a real shame if they didnt turn up mate.
So many times an LC is rebuilt without attention being paid to what's behind the body kit so it would be great to see it done properly.

You'll have to dismantle it again :o , and take another set of photos!
