Title: Osbornes speech
Post by: STMO123 on 08 October 2012, 13:35:20
I listened to George Osbornes speech at conference earlier and, while I applaud much of what he said (about welfare cuts), he must realise that he has llittle chance of implementation. Nick Clegg was on straight after and immediately disageed. No doubt sour grapes after Osborne rubbished his mansion tax.
I cant see much progress until these two go their seperate ways.

Surely their opinions should be weighted by the share of the vote they achieved to put them into coalition? That means Clegg (and Cable, while we're at it) have already had more than their share of sticking their oar in and can now be put into cryogenic storage ready to be defrosted in time for the election.

.. and wouldn't it be awful if the cleaners unplugged that facility in order to plug their Hoover in, and we found a mouldy, festering mass of blubber in 2 1/2 years time?

I agreed with alot of what he said, it reminded me of a school friend of mine, who several years ago, whilst up the spout with no.3 (at the age of 23/24) was saying that it wasnt worth her hubby getting a job, as they got their rent paid, council tax paid, child benefit, dole money, etc etc etc - her priceless comment was "its amazing what you're entitled to!"

I thought "yeah, and I'm f******g paying for it!  >:( "

Said school friend is still a friend, and she now has 5 children, still lives mostly on benefits, although hubby no.2 does have a job.

Whereas I worked for over 20yrs before finally being able to take time out and become a mum at the age of 38.....
