So as usual I've been creating more problems for myself i like to call it learning from your mistakes others call it idiocy, so my question is this i have an engine mount that's snapped the rubber bit, what sort of problems am i going to encounter? and is it going to be expensive to repair?

That my friend depends on how skilled you are and what you want to spend. The part can be a used one but remember that all of the engine mounts have been on and done as much work as each other. I would tend to change them all. The most probable cause of a failure would be stress (out of line), heat, or the more usual oil leaking onto them and the rubber perishing.
The job is straightforward though, just take your time. The dreaded Haynes manual could be of use if you have not tried this type of work before and don't take offence if oofers laugh a bit cos secretly they all probably refer to it ;D ;D ;D
Have a look at the Forum's Maintenance Guides and seek engine removal from the index. The info you need will probably be there..........if not ask a question giving a bit more detail of the engine type and car model.
There are many decent breakers who you can get a used one from that specialise in the miggys. 2 of the best are;

Havent looked at haynes etc. for the correct procedure,but I would guess its a matter of trolley jack under the sump (witha block of wood between the two) to support the engine.Then remove what you need to in order to access the nuts/bolts which hold the mount in place,remove them,then replace everything in reverse order.
I would imagine that,as usual,the o/s would bethe easier one.
As for where to source the part.Dont know how much VX charge tbh.New would obviously be best,but that depends on cost.
If going for used rather than new,I would always recommend enquiring from regular members/contributors to the forum before using retail outlets,but then Im probably biased. ::) ;D ;)

Looks a lot more straight forward and easy whilst I'm sat here but can,t say I'm looking forward to it, should I disconnect/undo both engine mounts to get it out I don't want the same thing happening both sides even if it the easier o/s one ;D haha am I doing a lot of damage running around with it like that? And Albitz is ex taxi al right?

Done few of these.
buy new mounts as a pair and replace,
both a bit of a pig to do.
undo both mounts,support engine on trolley jack with lump o wood on sump,jack engine up,undo bottom bolt, then wiggle out, I think I take the engine bracket off the drivers side as well, you will swear and moan while doing them.

Just out of interest I don't spose you have a rough idea how much they cost you?

cant remember how much they cost but i'm sure somebody will be along soon who may know how much the mounts are.
