Hi guys
The Omega went through the mot today with no problems :) the mechanic did say it needs new bushes before next years mot. My hubby priced the whole arms from Vauxhall and they were over £200 per side :(
Question is can we just replace the bushes is it an easy job or is it better to purchase the whole arm non vauxhall.

The bushes can be removed straight forward enough. I believe you need a decent press to get the new ones in. The front bushes can be replaced with poly bushes that just slide in. You can get Lemforder wish bones for about £140 a side I believe. You'd probably need steering geometry set up after that

Fronts or rears as well?

Or fit poly to the front. Half hours work aside with practice.
Although this is pointless if the rearward bush has failed too. Testers rarely find bush faults on the omega, so don't assume the reas are ok. Have a look first. If ok fit poly.
If not new bones.
...unless you want to get into pressing as said.

I would add, that the advantage with fitting poly is the wheels/suspension do NOT need to be loaded when the bolts are tightened. Just fit and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
Oe bushes MUST have the bolts tightened with wheels loaded, so the bushes are clamped with the suspension/wishbone arms compressed to the normal ride height.

About £140 both sides then, at least I bothered replying and tried to help, after the thread had x amount of views with no one else bothering.

If the rearward bushes are OK, I'd be inclined to poly the fronts, and if necessary, replace balljoints.
Personally, if the arms look OK, and the rears are knackered as well, I'd be inclined to rebush rears, poly fronts, and replace baljoints if necessary.

I always look through previous posts before I ask a question and didnt find an answer so therefore I made a new post. I am always grateful of the help myself and other members (who dont have the jist of it) receive from this forum. :)

If the rearward bushes are OK, I'd be inclined to poly the fronts, and if necessary, replace balljoints.
Personally, if the arms look OK, and the rears are knackered as well, I'd be inclined to rebush rears, poly fronts, and replace baljoints if necessary.
If we just need to replace the fronts and decided to poly them would we need the geometry set up afterwards?

No, only need full geo when removing/replacing complete wishbone :)

in an ideal world it should be done at least once a year anyway ;)
I would advise getting it done once everything is right again. I know it's not cheap and a bit of a pain for those of us who are miles from a decent, WIM approved centre but it's cheaper than a set of tyres ;)

True, but see my above post ;) Depends how soft the bushes were when it was last set up really ;)

Not arguing with you over that Rob ;) The answer was indeed correct... I just went into a little more detail ;)
TBH, if I lived closer to WIM (as I haven't found anywhere else I trust yet ::)) I'd get mine done every 9 months or so anyway as I do 20-25k per year anyway ::)
That said, I haven't had this one set up at all and I've owned it 18 months :-[ Just seem to have other things in the pipeline that are taking longer than planned ::)

not highjacking this post but today noticed that shed 4 needs new wishbones and links which i have was wondering has anybody heard weather pedders have sourced poly bushes for the omega yet,as would like to poly the bones i have and the pedders might be cheaper than powerflex (every little helps)..

think powerflex is the only option. And only for the front horizontal bush.
