Title: Advice on fault codes
Post by: Craig32 on 15 October 2012, 21:55:41
Hi Everyone,

Advice needed! I have a Omega 2.2 petrol (auto) y 22 xe engine. I am getting the following fault codes using op comm:

P 0130 (4) O2 sensor open circuit present

P1555 TPS load signal not plausiblemy with engine load present

p0170 (2) Lean exhaust present

Further investigation revealed:

B1S1 Air/Fuel (Bank 1 Sensor1) Rich

B1S2 Air/Fuel (Bank 1 Sensor 2) Lean

She drives ok. The spanner light comes on about 2/3 miles into the journey. I am going to give it a full service at the weekend including plugs and clean out the breather pipes/throttle body. Any enlightenment as to the above fault code fix's would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Look at the live values and post up the warm idle MAF figures  :y

For info, P0170 is actualy a fuel trim malfunction  :y

For info, I expect you will find the Kg/h value to be less than 10 :y
Title: Re: Advice on fault codes Warm Idle MAF Readings
Post by: Craig32 on 19 October 2012, 21:55:15
2.2 Petrol Auto

Ok, these are the warm idle MAF readings:

8 Kg/H

0.25-0.59

@ 2000 rpm

22 Kg/H

118-130

Interestingly the spanner light did not come on today but the emission light came on. "My Naff Code Reader"M said open circuit 02 sensor P0130.

Does this spread any light???

I would be inclined to replace the front sensor

Which front sensor would that be?

Which front sensor would that be?
O2 sensor (Lambda sensor)

Lamda sensor ordered. I suspect that's why she's such a pig to start from cold!

Hmmm, not sure on that. The lamda isn't used until it goes closed loop. Although who knows what routines the ECU runs when in an error routine  :-\

I'm going to do the plugs and clean the throttle body out plus the emission/breather pipes this week and the change the 02 sensor. Will let you know what happens. Once she's got over the grizzles of starting from cold she's fine.

Can you read the coolant temperature sensor with your code reader?

I can read the temps with it.  :)

Do the readings make sense?
ie with a stone cold engine does it read about 10 degC (or whatever the temperature was last night)?

Also worth checking the air intake temperature as well in case it is a factor in the cold start calculation.

I can check this out tomorrow as I have the day off to do some tinkering on her. I will come back with the results tomorrow night of the temps etc. Thanks for your time  :y

Well I replaced the front Lambda senor (which was loose) and the plugs, cleaned out the throttle body and various breather pipes and so far no more engine or spanner light (so far!)

The cold starts still bad it feels like theirs no choke could this be the ECT sensor? (where abouts is it?) On another note I have a rattle on the passenger side I checked the drop link which seems fine but the bottom wishbone bush (the one that faces down) doesn't look so good, where would be a good place to get a pair I might as well do both. Thanks for all the advice so far a really good site!  :y

Maybe. That is why I suggested that you check that it is giving a plausible reading.

Vauxhall coolant temperature sensors seem to be quite robust & don't usually cause problems though.......
