Hi guys
Have had my Omega just a week & the electronics warning light (the car with the spanner thru it) is now coming on when turning on the ignition. It goes off when I start up and drive fine. I have checked thru related old posts & can't find this previously reported. Do I need to get checked/diagnosed or since it goes off on starting up, is it normal? I didn't think it was. Also, driver seat won't adjust. Can hear the motor trying but nothing happening. Wasnt' sure if this might be related or something totally separate? Am not technical myself but trying & willing to learn stuff as I go along so as not to be a hopeless female. I do my own basics myself and my local garage normally does any work but wondered if this might be something you guys could advise on before I take it anywhere & part with my cash?

Nearly all the lights should come on when ignition first turned on, then a lot go out after about 3 seconds, leaving (I think) just the alternator and oil pressure warnings until the engine is started .... I'd need to actually go and look to confirm .... :)
-
This one stays on until I start the engine. Manual says should go off after a few seconds. It doesn't!

I don't have the specific lamp you have (mine Omega is older mini facelift) but if it goes out when the engine starts, then that's correct. ;)

It's a separate fault.
have a look here ...... http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90530.0 assuming you mean it won't go up/down ;)

If the seat wont go back/forward there is probably one or more £1 coins stuck in the runners.Cna be a bugger to get out,but at least your wealthier when youve finished the job.I got nearly £7 worth of coins out of the seat runners of one Omega. :)

So thats 7 times you've been to the shops, where you had to get your card out? ;D ;D

It's at full height & not adjustable. Apparently the previous owner was quite tiny. Thanks for the info link for this problem - I will try at the w/end. Thanks also for the warning light reassurance.

The seats a common one

Millie, if you pass Brackley on your travels, pop in, we can have a look at it :)

I should add, I have the dealer level diagnostic equipment for the engine management light.
Seat height motor, seen that be the motor before. Sadly, easiest way is to remove seat to visually inspect thoroughly.

if only your back was capable of lifting. :y :y

Yup, little chance of me lifting the seat out. I'll just do the bolts ;D. Although non-Elite seats are a fair bit lighter.

He's that bad, I have to do his heavy lifting these days. ;D

I know what you mean Millie
Normally the light goes out after a couple of seconds without starting engine BUT starts to stay on until engine started
This happens on mine and have looked at it with a code reader (thanks AndyB) and it's a fuel trim error, which happens when my LPG runs out and it switches back to petrol.
I have concluded that this is to indicate a minor problem recorded by the ECU that does not warrant immediate attention but should be read and dealt with if it re-occurs
I am sure that if i'm wrong someone WILL correct me ::)

The EML was an old immobiliser code stored.
Only other significant code in the car was a Power Sounder Self Test Failure, a sure sign that its internal batteries have spewed their contents all over the PCB, so we removed that.
Driver seat, one of the front bolts seized, and didn't withstand the torque a weakling like me put through it, so I guess will need drilling out. "Sod it" ;D
The motor is trying to move it, and you can see it straining, but the long threaded rod isn't moving. I suspect the seat needs to come out, and further investigation, probably removing motor, and unjamming the mech.

Should add, great to meet you today Millie, always a pleasure to meet new members :)

Nice to meet u too. thanks for sparing the time - was much appreciated. do u think is worth bothering with the seat and pinching the motor off my v6 or making do? if so might hinder me selling the v6, dead or otherwise(!). or should I just perhaps buy a new part?

If you need replacement motor try one of the breakers on OOF :y

Depends on what your plans are for V6. I've not seen it, but a V6 CD with a long knackered oil cooler isn't going to be worth more than the cost of a garage repair I'm afraid. Esp a garage that diagnosed a HGF ::o
If you wanted to fix the V6, maybe try Darth Loo-knee, who knows these engines, and is very reasonable.
I'd love to help, as its nice to be able to work on cars, but I'm banned from doing anything mechanical before my MRI, and then beyond that, I can only manage small periods of bending over engines.
