tried accessing it through safe mode but still no luck. 1st option ask here for help 2nd take it to some comp shop to get repaired.

Is there any other way of recovering my files/music etc then can wipe out and reinstall xp?
or i have to accept it that i will be loosing all my files?

To sort several systems with similar problems .. I have a "linux on CD" that boots independently of the system hard drive (mine is Knoppix 5). Once booted to this OS, I can read the hard drives in the system and copy any needed data to a memory stick. Once completed I then reboot to a windows CD, reformat, reinstall and once sorted, copy those important data files back.

Has worked on may occasions.. just takes a bit of time .. :)

Files should be safe, if your serious about starting from a fresh install, best way is to hook your Hard drive on another Machine as a secondary or as removeanle storage via a Usb Caddy.

Your Documents and Desktop will probably not have permissions on another PC or laptop, so you will need to take ownership of the old drive from the new PC to view and back them.

Good luck. Chris.

Edit, if no second PC available, get hold of a new drive, rebuild from scratch, then as above.
