Title: What paint nowadays

Hi fellas.....

I have to do a bit of bodywork to keep the beast in tip top nick. I was in the spraying game for 20 years, but that was a fair time ago now.
However, I have access to spraying equipment, what paint is available nowadays for 'home use'. In my day it was the two pack iso or cello (both air drying)

I'm pretty sure cellulose is still obtainable.

 :y I still use both and get it either from a factor or of ebay. I have heard a whisper in the trade that the non slovent probably water based crap is losing the battle. Just remember to wear a decent mask with the two pack...... :y

Luckily, due to the Miggy having loads of panel 'breaks' its easier to spray than some cars, so small areas can be done. Don't like using spray cans :(
Will have to get a mask.....makes you wish now you had kept all the gear (masks, guns, compressor) :(

Can't remember the drying time between base coat and laquer, info please. :y

Ah, sounds like you need practice...   ...spookily enough, I need the wheel arches sorted on the MV6 ;D

2 pack all the time i usually let base flash off for about 30-40mins before clear & find it is a bit more forgiving if it all goes south

I developed the habit of pre-painting the base coat (2 tiny layers ) before actual application..  it doesnt require paint cabin as I sand it later..  it closes the surface perfectly.. gives a better deep color and it becomes easy to close the surface with the actual base coat with less layers in the cabin..  we generally apply the laquer before the last base coat dries - a bit wet style- so no more than 5-10 minutes but that time is for the heated paint cabin..   but if you are making a repair patch on original paint things are different.. :-\ 
 
ps: here we prefer solvent based paint...

Razzo is spot on...just allow the base to be finger tacky where it can't be seen (I use spare bit of plate) and then apply the clear.
Same applies to celly......
its a tried and trusted method that is not viscisity, humidity or temerature dependant.  :y
