Sending multiple pictures.
I took about 40pics and half a dozen videos on holiday.
H wants them on her iphone.
Now, how to send them from my iphone4?
Email, can't select more than 5 per email, as the option to send disappears after more than 5 are selected.
imessage, same story.
Text, might well allow sending the numbers I want but each pic has to be selected individually, too painfull.
I've actually partially dealt with it by uploading to photobucket and she can log in from her end.
But this is what I mean about crapples smart phones functionality. This was a very easy task on symbian/Nokia devices. Go to album, check/un check as many pics as you like, send via blu tooth, and the phone ticks away until they are all sent (or the phone crashed ;D )
There's progress I suppose. Or has the 5 been improved? Is blu tooth utilised more?
Ps, tried "whats app". Only allows one pic at a time. Sigh....

I know Jobsy didn't let you bluetooth to other devices that weren't made by his mob, but I didn't know he wouldn't let you to Bluetooth to another Apple device as well.
If that is the case, there doesn'tseem to a be alot of point in having BT functionality to start with IMO.
Anyway, what's stopping you uploading them to your PC and then putting them on her phone that way?

Most email servers would reject such an email based on size anyway. Email is desperately inefficient with attachments. Desperately inefficient.
I'd pull them off onto a PC/Mac, then push them back to other phone, as Martian suggests.
crApple's bluetooth stack was only originally envisaged for handsfree (music and phone), though why will always be the subject of much debate, but we all know its to prevent an uncontrolled access method to the device. A more advanced bluetooth protocol came in with either 4 or 4S, though despite crApples less stringent rules on how the device can be accessed, I suspect there's still no OBEX.
Jailbroken devices can do things more directly, courtesy of SSH, but somehow I can't see Gixerboy getting to grips with that, when the point and click PC solution is available.

If it's too another iPhone, there's an app called Bump, download it, simply put Bluetooth on, on both phones, select your pictures and then hold the phones in each hand and 'bump' them together :).

I thought bump only did contacts? Its been nagging me to update it for months, maybe I should ;D

yes I had not thought of that as an option :y ...but my point really is, coming from Symbian, that functionality isn't available, it's a backward step. As with a Symbian device, it's a non event really, so easy to do.
How does Android deal with this..? :)

Also, there's reasons why my phone can't go anywhere near iTunes.
...and i'd be stumped using a pc and the phone as a storage device.
Getting cables and pc's out, is not an option IMO anyway, as it's a function that should be available on the blooming phone.

on samsungs file transfers to tvs are unbelievably easy on wifi..

You need a proper camera. :P

...and a proper music player, lap top, sat Nav, video recorder, torch, watch, alarm clock, calender, radio, various maps...
Sha'up Kev! ;D

Can you not use the cloud, and a 'shared' photo stream?

Ooh, dunno. I do know iCloud is full, with photo stream off. :-\

What about emailing 'em to my iMac, then I'll forward to Mrs Gixer? :-\

I open up a file explorer, select the files I want, then simply "send" them using whatever method I like from the list (eg, Bluetooth, Messaging, Gmail, Wi-Fi, etc).
I was going to suggest Bump earlier, but IIRC that shrinks the images in the same way that sending them via MMS or email does.

Easy. Dropbox. :y
Install, select all to upload to a folder. Done. Then just install on PC & iPhone to sync everywhere

Must agree here .. dropbox is exceedingly simple to use, and is very effective :y :y :y

Except you won't ever see another Symbian device. Nokia/Accenture have officially pulled the plug on it last week.

I used to use dropbox, but gave up with the useless piece of shit when the useless retards dished out my email address and password to anyone who wanted it. Not once (that would just be careless) or twice (that was beyond annoying), but 3 times (unbelievable).
I must say, one of the advantages of fibre based broadband packages is the fact that online storage is far more feasible. The downside is the likes of Dropbox are so desperately insecure, so you worry about using them. I'm a good boy, and use different passwords for each service, so I'm fairly immune from serious fraud, but still prone to mogrels changing my files to link to their porn sites :(

But try not to use it for hosting avatars, its too slow, which makes forum jumping a pain.

Don't worry .. I won't use dropbox for my avatar ... already upset you enough by using imageshack !!

Photobucket is an image hosting service, not really the same thing as Dropbox and other online storage providers.
Currently, Photobucket remains my favourite for getting iPhone pics onto the forum. As of yet, they haven't given away my details, AFAIK, and the image hosting is pretty quick. And the IOS app, while clunky, works well enough.
Any pics I post from my PC is from a standard web hosting account, rather than online storage like Dropbox.

iExplorer on a computer connected by cable... (an app for deep level mucking about with iOs device memory.... which has benign uses as well.... )
or
any one of the number of memory stick emulation apps , again, plug it in to the computer, and shift across enmasse
snapbucket , the photobucket app is also pretty handy at this crap. uploading it to a shared photo bucket....
also, if you have an icloud account you can share your photo stream,

How does Android deal with this..? :)
I have got my Galaxy S2 paired using bluetooth with my Linux laptop.
For individual photos I select "send to paired device" & the photos appear in my "shared" folder on the laptop.
For multiple downloads it is quicker to access the phone as a mass storage device using the file manager on the laptop.
I imagine that lesserother operating systems should be able to do something similar.......

ES File Explorer (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&hl=en) will let you transfer the entire contents of the phone (including the system if you are rooted) over BT, FTP, LAN, etc.
It will also let you access the hard disk of any PC on your network as well.

It's much easier on Android, as photos just stored on SD card. So just copy & paste really :)

Anyone get the impression that tunnie has become an Android freak ::)
