Title: £28 MOT
Post by: grain.ben on 25 October 2012, 09:16:55
Found an advert in the local paper the other day for a garage in Newbury, claiming its thier 10th birthday and are offering MOT's for £28.

I know we all like to save a few pennies, but in anyones apinion, are they likely to fail it on something really silly, for really silly money?

Katie is due for her MOT, so booking on moday, so just want a few opinions on cheap MOT's

My cars have gone to a local MOT station that only does MOTs, ie no repairs, for years & years, even when they charged the maximum they were allowed to. They don't have a financial interest in failing it.

I paid £28 at halfr@ds . It probably does go on when garages fail to get work , i was nearly conned a few yrs back where my car was failed and the mot tester was quoting me for £400 worth parts for repairs if i had the car repaired there and then  ::) I got all the parts myself , total cost £100 . If a failure go away and price the parts up yourself first , if they want the work they will accept you are getting the parts yourself and fit them for you  :)

They're not going to admit they'll fail your car on a triviality so they can get the work ......  ::) ::)

Generally speaking if the testing station is charging less than there hourly rate to do the test then they are trying to get work from it IMHO :y

Had mine done for £25 yesterday - paid another £125 to get some work done, but it was still a good price for what it needed  :y
