I have the inlets (with fuel rail) from Ralf that I'm comsidering putting on my car to see if it helps with fuel economy.
I've looked through the Haynes and it shows you how to get the injectors off the rail and that the 'o' sealing rings should be renewed. however is there anything i can do to the injector like launching some carb cleaner down it? or is there a way to test it?
just doing these little bits while i'm on half term as i've done all my homework and i'm needing another car fix ;D
TIA :y :y :y

The injectors are bullet proof, never seen or heard of a need to service them.

fair enough mate..... shan't bother then! ;D
cheers.

sound cleaning .. but this must be done on a regular basis from the time they are new.. if you try this with a very old one, it may leak.. :-\
-
ok thanks cem. Say i was really bored and wanted to clean and replace the sealing rings also . . . How would i do it?

Had a set of Lotus Carlton injectors sonic cleaned, can find out the name of the company if you want.
If you do get them cleaned just make sure they don't stick if not re-used straight away. Got the LC back together but as the car was in the body shop it wasn't started for about three months.
Car would idle but drove like a one litre Corsa and it turned out to be three of the six were stuck, wasn't a nice job to do in the first place but a pig to do it all again
Cheers

thanks Andy but to be honest it was only something to do while i was bored. If you cant clean them yourself i sham't bother.

and I forgot to say, after sonic flow some shops have a test apparatus.. they also check its flow pattern and amount for a specific time..
I didnt feel the need to change injector gaskets.. instead injectors leak and cause hot starting issues.. so I changed whole set..

Northampton Motorsport - Google them, Webby. They have all the kit to clean, flow test, check spray pattern, etc. Might even give you a demo of the kit if you're interested.
A full injector service would include ultrasonic cleaning, replacement of the "finger filters" and seals, before and after testing of flow rate and spray pattern.
Well worth doing if using 2nd hand injectors on a "best effort" job. Not sure it'd be worthwhile on a standard Omega as they rarely cause issues and 2nd hand replacements are easy to find.

Thanks kev. So would i just detach and take all 6 injectors to them? i will check them out mate but i cant get to computer tonight. Do they charge for just a test?
-
forgot to mention that it would be awesome to see this process because I've been learning about diesel injectors which I've been told need relatively periodic servicing so i presume this would be roughly the same process?
-
just managed to get the info on my phone (normally my phone is useless) and it says 5 quid per test and 25 for the dogs do dahs per injector. So roughly how much for 6 pattern (i presume) injectors? Cheers
-
well. Got very bored tonight as i suspected i would lol. And i took to dismantling Ralf's inlets. . . Ooo err. Got all 6 injectors out. The fuel rail didnt come out very easy. And sadly i think I've damaged one injector. Only a slight 'dent' on one of them as i had to shoe horn it out of its cave as it was stuckfast. Not sure if that would affect its use but not really am issue as I'd simply replace 5 and re.use one on my good car :-) if it came to swapping them out that is. Definitely gonna contact that company. Cheers Kevin :-)

Use this Clean Me (http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=injector%20cleaner&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CDUQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.halfords.com%2Fwebapp%2Fwcs%2Fstores%2Fservlet%2Fproduct_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_172051_langId_-1_categoryId_255221&ei=Ta-RUInrKfGY1AXFoYHIDA&usg=AFQjCNEI-s0FuaAX-2EQKDdhhTg684_BVQ) Its easier on the hands ;D ;)

I should add, NMS won't be the cheapest. I've had them cleaned and flow tested by post for about a tenner a go but thought, as they are up the road from you, and have the process described well on their web site..
It's not something I would consider necessary on an Omega in normal circumstances. If you suspect a problem just get a 2nd hand set.

I've used these folks before in the past - under a week turnaround including postage time: http://www.injectorcleaning.co.uk/post.htm

Yep, I think I used them in the past too. Just fitted the spare set to the car.. "Ding Dong" That'll be the postman with my refurbed ones. ::)
