Title: Headlight .. Tailight . But both working
Post by: Proz on 02 November 2012, 10:21:22
Hello
As above when i start the car and put on the lights i get this warning on the TID
I jump out and check but all the lights are on and working .... ???
It normally goes away its self but why give the warning if they are on and working .
I did have a taillight out a few weeks ago but it was replaced.
Since then I've had this fault every time the lights are put on ... :-\

Dodgy connections giving incorrect resistance could also be a cause if the bulbs are of a reputable brand

Head/Tail Light just means one of the bulbs in the headlight and/or taillight circuit is out of expected values, usually because its blown.

Remember there are 4 bulbs that make up the tail lights, 2 each side.

Old/poor bulbs can confuddle the check system.

 ......

That's true of PRE facelift, however I seem to think that facelifts just a stop/tail lamp on each side.  :-\

Non, mon ami.

All saloons have 4 tail bulbs. Admittedly, only 2 appear to be covered by the check control, but there are 4 bulbs.

I must check mine tomorrow as today a tail light check came on and there is only one lit up.

So I guess I have three out  ::)

I suspect they are in the boot lid and the wiring is at fault  :y

The rear lights consist of:

On the wing
Stop/tail
Indicator

On the boot lid
Reverse
Fog

So I only have one light out  ;D

That will be why the other two are not covered by the check control  ::) ::)

Wouldn't it be better to check the car?  ::) ::)
