In general you can work out what handed thread something like that will be. Left handed is used when the item in its normal use would undo itself. Examples are nuts on the end of pulleys, if the pulley's usual rotation would tend to undo a right hand thread then a left thread is used. Ok poor example usually the shaft has a key but you see what I mean.
-
Yes in normal practice, but with Track rods, the threads are opposites on the inner and outer joints so that the track might be adjusted by turning the centre part one way or tother :y
Effectively you wind the TREs out to make the track rod longer for toe in, and wind them in to make them shorter for toe out :y
-
When I have bought track rod ends for an Omega, I have always managed by specifying nearside/left or offside/right, inner or outer.
Also, as long as the ball joint is ok, you can get replacement boots if you choose to fix it that way.
-
johny - tell me more about the replacement boots please, where would i get them ? (online? or do i need to take the part somewhere? bear in mind that im in spain )
-
Motor factors in this country sell them, so I assume they are available on the internet too. You just need to know the sizes of the two holes. They are held on by a spring clip (a bit like a key ring) so there is nothing too complicated to fit them.
They have recently got more popular over here, because the MOT was changed to include the boot even if the ball joint has no play in it.

Just done a quick ebay search for "ball joint boot" and there are loads! Around £5 for 4 boots with clips.

oh barginous!! well researched sir :D i shall do that instead, the bjs are fine !
