Hi Guys,
I have had my omega 4 years now and never had a problem till now. I have never had to fill the expansion tank for the radiator until Monday 5th Nov, when the climate control suddenly turned from hot to cold and the temperature gauge went into the red. when i checked the water it was empty. I thought it was the pump that had gone but after checking all the engine it appears ok. The only place there looks like there is any water is at the back of the engine where the bulk head is. There looks like a small housing with 2 pipes on it, and they seem to be wet underneath where they enter the bulkhead.
I am not a mechanic or anything techy like that but does any one have any ideas where this may be leaking. i just have to keep filling up now at night. There is no pool of water under the car either in the morning.
Any feedback most welcome.

Whip the yellow oil filler cap in the cam cover off . . have a look underneath.
If there is a creamy coloured deposit, then the coolant is getting into the crankcase . . head gasket is stuffed.
A pressure test in the plug ports will indicate where about it is on the block (pot 1 or 4 etc.).
If that is the case warn whoever you get to do the job that the exhaust studs are very brittle and will shear off very very very very very easily if they haven't been touched before. That happened to me with the same engine which "my man" then proceeded to drill out and go straight into an oil gallery with.
There aint much metal in them thar cylinder heads !

Thats the heater by-pass valve, its a common thing to fail. Thats where your coolant is going, it needs to be replaced.
From your description, does not sound like head gasket to me.

Sorry you cannot use this as a diagnosis, using some oils mayo is created from just engine moisture. Castrol appears to be quite bad for it, as both 4 pots and more so V6's create a lot of moisture, you will get this build up if oil service is neglected.
So having mayo under the cap, can actually be quite normal ;) :y

I agree if the HBV is wet then it needs changing,hopefully running low on coolant hasn't had a knock on effect on the H/gasket :y

Sorry guys for not replying to this thread, but have had so much trouble of late at home, car has taken a sidestep to home probs.
Thanks for the replies and it was the heater by-pass valve that was leaking. i have had it replaced and now no water loss. :-[
