Title: Water pump
Post by: pscocoa on 08 November 2012, 15:15:52
I had cam belt done a couple of weeks ago on the Omega V6 and the water pump has gone squeaky. The V6s are different to the 16v I think where you, as a matter of good practice, change the water pump as the pump is driven within the same belt set up.

I am assuming this is an alternator belt or bearing issue - but why start just after cam belt change - and yes they would have removed the alternator belt

Pop the auxillary belt off and run engine just to double check that one of the new cam  belt guides/tensioner pulley is not faulty

With the aux belt off you could also manually test the water pump. Depends how bad you think it is whether or not you could hear it when turning by hand  :-\

my wife has been using the Omega today and took 3 of her friends out to visit someone (say 50 mile round trip) - noise has gone - seriously - maybe it felt it could not compete with all the noise from the cabin area ::) and gave up. Will keep an ear on it.
