Guessing a stainless exhaust is classed as a chav mod by the insurance, thus the bump. Seems excessive on an Omega though, on a Saxo, I could understand...

...or maybe the Omega has hit that category now  :-\

I had a similar problem with Churchill. I had been with them for many years when they said they wouldn't insure me at all with a stainless exhaust, unless it was standard fit when the car was new. I didn't want any value added to the car, I just needed to know that I had declared it in the event of an incident. I went with Admiral and it is listed on my policy as 'Header and Exhaust Modification'.  :y

After I'd sent a letter to Churchill querying it, they have since sent me a letter of apology stating that they will insure me with the stainless exhaust. They said it was the employee's opinion at the time and not one shared by them as a company.

I'm not sure whether I told my insurers about the stainless exhaust on mine - probably not.  :-\ I fitted it as a replacement part, not as a performance enhancing modification  :-\  :-\

I only fitted mine as i intended to keep the car and it made sense to have it as they life time warranty it as long as the same owner has the car,,,,it does not increase the b.h.p  and at 68 years of age i think i have passed the boy racer stage  :-\  and if i wrote the car off churchill would only pay me out the market value of the car which is pennies and not make the price increase because of the exhaust..so why are they peeing about playing silly sods....beats me  >:(

The implication is a lot of people are driving around risking all for a few non-standard mods.
