Looks like I be doing this (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90590.0) and this (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90600.0) on Tuesday when I'm off. The locked up as I came home from work in it this evening. Couldn't turn the wheel cos the steering lock locked & I couldn't turn the key. Eventually got somewhere with a can of penetrating oil & a straw down the lock & around it. Never had the merest hint of problems with it before. :(

Exacly like mine a week ago. That had given no hints either.
P.S couldnt find that ariel today. :(

OK Albs, no problem. ;)

Check the area where the "sprung pin" runs round the back of the barrel (it pulls the lock barrel into the housing as you turn the key).
This had got all burred on my example, and was causing it to stick. A good polish and lube and it has been fine since.

Sounds likely, because the barrel wasn't springing out like it should ........

To add to this. I contacted NW Keys Ltd (http://www.nwkeys.co.uk/Portal.aspx?page=3) in Liverpool and they can supply all the tumblers you might need. As well as a bag of tumblers for £50-odd clicky (http://www.nwkeys.co.uk/Portal.aspx?page=43&cat=131&prod=7389) they will supply individual tumblers, just tell them what numbers you want. Min order was £5 plus p&p but it still only came to £6.51 for 10 tumblers, springs & postage. :y :y

Trouble is with new tumblers is that the key will also be worn... :y

Perhaps, but a steel key isn't going to be as worn as the brass tumblers. ;)
-
I bet it is, as is often the case with hard v soft metals, the hard one will have worn as much (due to the soft metal being self lubricating and also picking up tiny parts of the hard metal which effectively harden it).

No doubt. I'll let you know :y ....... it'll only be £6 wasted if they're no better. ;) ;)
