This is utterly incomprehensible . >:(
http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/london-2012-olympic-stadium-stay-shut-four-four-114027038.html
Six years and £500 million to build ,used for four weeks and then shut down for another four years and another £300 million spent .
How on earth could the cretinous designers and architects not build a stadium in six years ,that with minor alterations if need be , be immediatly put back to public use after the Olympics. I mean , what can you use an Olympic Stadium for that will attract the numbers required to sustain it's viability apart from football and athletics ? ( Formula 1 ? ..... Oh FFS ! )
So by the end of 2016 ish... you'll have, Eh lets see , Oh yeah, a ten year old £ 800 million Olympic Stadium. ::)

i thought westham fc were moving in??... :y

shame to leave the Boleyn :'( :'(

Having been there on more than one occasion I honestly cant see what needs altering or what they could possibly need to spend all that money on. Its a magnificent venue, and short of laying a load of astroturf in the middle for footballists to kick a pigs bladder around on,its a mystery to me as to what they need to do. :-\

Who's money ??? >:( >:(
Another white elephant like the dome, it will be given away for pennies for someone to profit >:( >:( >:(

Wasn't planning permission only granted on condition that the top x number of rows were removed after the games ??
If so then this was always going to be the case, so the present headlines are just spurious journalism ... yet again making a story out of nothing........and being believed .... :(
-
The top x rows are above ground level, with the rest being below,so that may be the case.Even so,for it to take that amount of time and cost that amount of money still beggars belief.
-
I'd have thought that the sensible thing to do would have been a stadium designed for multiuse right from the start.... ::)
They could have been really innovative with things like a football pitch below ground level and the seating going right down to the pitchside to seat say 60,000. Then at ground level they could have had another level that slides over the football pitch and much of the seating, that had the running track and athletics field and that could be used for many different sports and events like cricket, concerts etc ::)
Sometimes I feel like a lonely little lightbulb shining away in the darkness... :-\

I was at the aquatics centre last week & told it won't be open to the public until late 2014 or early 2015 & all the pools, training, diving, swimming & others are still kept up to temp. Must be costing us a fortune >:(
