Interesting reading and it also makes sense on why Germany is now meddling in French economic affairs.

Exactly! The German government acted because they didn't want to lose influence over EADS and were worried about German jobs being relocated to France. The British government would have happily sat by and let another Great British company fall into foreign hands. >:(
Despite 'safeguards', 'redlines' and 'assurances', the HQ of the new company would have been in Toulouse and the culture of the entire group would have become very Francophone ensuring that any restructuring or new jobs created would have been biased towards France. ::)
This was always going to be a bad deal for Britain, British jobs and our national interest!! >:(
