Title: heat bypass valve
Post by: djhorner on 12 November 2012, 01:05:26
the car seems to use alot of coolant when the heater is on but not as much if any when its not on i think i've traced it down to the heat bypass valve but any ideas??

Symptoms do point that way. Check it for leaks with the heater in various positions :y

If it is faulty, genuine Vx is recommended as some pattern ones have been known to fail prematurely ::)

Yep most likely faulty HBV - you should be able to get your hand down back of head and feel HBV to confirm if leaking :y

It is easier alot with wipers and scuttle off, but not impossible.

Wipers are a 13 and a good thump to brake loose and remove.

But first you should be able to get your hand round the back and feel for water. Hot water mind. ;)
