Title: Police Commisioner's - Thursday ?
Post by: SIR Philbutt on 13 November 2012, 23:26:18
Well, in the spirit of political threads ........

Do you know, or even care, who you will/will not be voting for on Thursday.

I "bloomin" dont, know or even care and will probably regret not finding out and making my vote be counted  ::)

edit - by the way do any of you think this is getting us more "americanised"  :-\

I do and have voted, but not happy that I had to go searching the Internet to find out who the local candidates were, only had 1 very wishy washy flyer through the door, the cynical side of me things that this may be deliberate, keep us in the dark...... :-\ :-\ :-\

I don't know who's running round here, no one seams bothered to present them self and let us know what's the score which I think is pretty poor if they want my vote, but I know ones been in the local paper for some crime he commited years ago nothing major.

as long as it dosnt cost me money I don't give two hoots who it is.

I can't agree with mixing Politics with Policing, just jobs for the boys ex MP's and Councillors. >:( >:( Sent my ballot paper back with "None of the below" written on it. Spoilt paper but at least I voted

Cleggy's right about 'jobs for the boys'....all 56 grands worth of it and all the associated expenses that will undoubtedly be in place to be abused as usual. I have lived here for nearly nine years and have only ever seen two police vehicles in my road in all that time, and that was after two houses were broken into. I've had two occasions when I've had to call the police and the response was zero...so for me I can't see that voting some pratt into a cushy little job when in all reality it's not going to make one degree of difference to the crap service that we expect  and get from Thames Valley police. The only vote they get from me is one of no confidence!

For me its a position that should be earned through the ranks, not voted for

Indeed, someone therefore arriving with half a clue how to do the job and not swayed by the need to canvass for votes.

In our case, the only leaflet to drop through the door had our ex-Tory MP's face on it. He retired a few years ago after doing, as far as I can see, very little whilst representing us in parliament, so my expectations are not that high. Not high enough for me to bother to vote, TBH. ;D

well i got a letter from one of the candidates ( mail merge sort of thing ) and she was the one doing the  job before but that was it BUT i feel as police service (WTF happened to force??) should be impatial??....so in that case should'nt be attached or run by any political party....but the powers that be have been very sneeky in setting this up as too stop too many independants running they set the deposit at £ 5,000

but on the upside plod around here are on the whole pretty good as we have a quite a bit of trouble of late (little scrotes who need a bloody good hiding but i have been told by plod i can't do that) but when the neighbours call the police they are here normally in about 1-2 minutes.... :y

My "bruv" in the police sent me this http://inspectorgadget.wordpress.com/2012/11/16/no-mandate-after-epic-pcc-election-failure/ (http://inspectorgadget.wordpress.com/2012/11/16/no-mandate-after-epic-pcc-election-failure/)

Interesting point that a union needs a certain percentage of votes for a strike to be valid  :o

Just goes to show that in reality and under these rules our political class do not have a mandate to govern  >:(
