Title: Rad drain screw
Post by: omegod on 27 November 2012, 11:39:41
Put a new drain screw in the bottom of the rad, would this normally have an external washer on it? There was an old crappy, rusty one on it but didn't look at all original ! This is where the old opel parts diagram site would have come in handy >:(

PS it didn't come with a new one !!

If memory serves .. it has TWO rubber washers on it ..and a fibre sealing washer (looking for a picture)

link won't work from old site to new ..

put "Omega radiator drain tap" into google images and you get a load of hits :)

Shoud be two O rings on the shaft of the plug and a shake proof washer which is a seperate item, this would be the crusty rusty item you have

If your new plug is a "black" one and your old a "red" one there are subtle differences in the seal positioning which could leak to continuing leakage - had this on one of ours.  Solution was to swap the 2 new o-ring seals to the old red plug ;)

I changed my plug for a new one from VX. the part they gave me was the black one and it is the wrong part....
I just put the seals from the black one onto the red plug and all good...
Is your plug red or black??
