Title: Fitting MV6 springs
Post by: doz on 27 November 2012, 21:34:47
Thinking I'd like the Elite just a snippet lower but I want to keep the air suspension on the back. Did the MV6 have the self levelling suspension? If not  is there enough adjustment on the level sensor on the Elite to account for the slight drop?

Sure Gixer tried LSC springs with Elite shocks, fairly successfully. I think it was the Irmscher springs that were a bit too far...

...no doubt he'll confirm

I thought he managed it with Irmscher springs too but binned the S/L because the damping is naff :-\ :-\

Vaguely recall one option giving "strange" handling.

Fitting mv6 lowered sports chassis springs(superior face lift only) to Elite with self levelling works well, and gives an improvement. No problems using in conjunction with self levelling. :y

A further improvement in unloaded handling can be had by fitting Lsc shocks as well. However loaded handling is poor and will wear rear tyres o the inside edges.

SL is very good at levelling the ride, but the damping when unloaded is very poor.

But if you need the load capacity, needs must. :y

Also, oddly, the self levelling seemed to find its own height in the end, after much fiddling and measuring.

Without looking, it'sa threaded rod that connects the sensor to the trailing arm, so theoretically some fine tuning should be possible  :y

Cheers guys. I'll have a look around for some springs. Most seem to lower it by 30-40mm which is way to much for my liking. I'll hold out for some genuine mv ones

Yes there doesn't seem to be any alternative for 15mill drop other than oe Gm springs which are very expensive.

To get 15 mill drop, just to reiterate, they must be lowered sports chassis, which is face lift only.

Rears are listed as "sport" on trade club so you can get the rears from a 2.2 sport as well as mv6 face lift.

Fronts must be face lift but can be from estate or saloon obviously.

Good luck though, used, these are rare poo. ;)
