Post by: duke101 on 01 December 2012, 18:31:45
Just out of interest...what is the purpose of the fan under the passenger side front wing that ducts into the fusebox near the battery?

Now that's spooky as that was the last wing that I removed. The top of the wing rotted out around the aerial hole so I fitted new ones and then had them sprayed.  :y

That's cos you're an old bugger too!  ;) ;)

Funnily enough, both of mine were rotted out too. I spotted a couple of new-ish replacement wings on a car on a scrap yard in Dunfermline (probably long since built on  :-\) so bought them. They didn't look too bad after a couple of rattle cans  ;) ;) ;)

Well spotted: SAI pump bottom left corner of picture sharing a bracket with the horns.

I was too busy looking at the hose attached to a thing that looks like a cows stomach  ::)

Spooky, they must have copied the design from the Mk1 Cortina, mine was exactly the same, rotted through at the top! :(

For the love of god why? I mean look at it in the picture, that's a lot of effort to go to. I mean ECU's didn't cook when they were fitted in the foot wells or under scuttles. So why go to all that effort (and cost) to keep something cool which really doesn't need it? I'd love to see the design brief behind this one.  ::)

Probably because it is fitted in the engine bay, with a V6 within a few inches from it.

probably the same person who put fans in the rear doors ::)

Rear door fans? Really? Anymore fans and the bloody thing will take off! What do they do then? Apart from giving you something else to fix when it breaks

2x front wings on a Mk 1 Escort estate, along with front panel to repair my younger brothers car after he managed to drive it through a wooden fence into a field, broke a rear spring as well.....I repaired it for him rather than go through any insurance...... :D :D :D
