X25XE and Y26XE are very similar at a basic level (block and heads) but the engine management system is very different on the Y26SE. This means you're going to have to transplant all of the ancillaries from the Y26SE to the X25XE to stand a hope of getting it to work, and, if many of these are missing, you will have problems.
As an example, X25XE had a coil pack and conventional ignition leads, Y26SE had coil per plug ignition. X25XE has a conventional cable throttle, Y26SE has a drive by wire electronic throttle. It also lacks the secondary air injection and exhaust gas recirculation systems (if fitted in your home market).
Welcome to the forum. :y

Contact a UK or German breaker and get one shipped over

Make sure you get the whole engine with all ancillaries though.

Do you know what is wrong with the current engine? Might be a hell of lot cheaper to ship some parts and fix the one you have then ship a whole engine.
Oh, and STOP SHOUTING! ;)

the 2.5 block and head are basicily the same if you get ne from 98 onwards !! :y

I have just spent 3 weeks trying to source a 2.6 and finally found one...... but it took a lot of searching and what i got was a Vectra engine that we are converting to RWD.
i was being quoted £1000 for a second hand one of unknown origin and unknown mileage, and the guy then wanted £150 to ship it across the UK!!!
Desperate, what parts are missing? if you have the sump, flywheel/flexplate inlet and exhaust manifolds and ancilliaries from the Omega then why not look at trying to source a front wheel drive unit from a Vectra?
good luck

Hi guy's
Thanks for all the info it seems everything is there throttle body inlet manifold injectors etc etc all that i can see that is missing is the coils so if i buy that 2.5 v6 you guy's recon everything should fit i whould just have to find some coils a gasket set and i should be alright. I just want to make sure the the heads are identical to the 2.6 version if i have all anchilleries it whould work ?

The main likely difference on the head would be that the coils on the 2.6 mount on top of the plugs and need 2 tappings where they screw into the head. I believe later 2.5s had these anyway. Cam covers will be different as well, and you won't be able to use a 2.5 coil pack on a 2.6 due to the different engine maganement so it sounds like you need to source the 2.6 coils.
2.5 heads on the 2.6 block would probably work OK. Bear in mind they'd probably have slightly smaller combustion chambers as the 2.5 is a higher compression engine and the 2.6 block will raise compression a tad more. I wouldn't say it'd be dangerously high though. You might even get a bit more power. :)

Thanks kevin
Realy appreciate the info i think it might just work will the 2.6 cam covers work on the 2.5 heads you think ? coils i will source i am sure someone will ship those over to me they aren't heavy

I consulted GeffD on this a few weeks ago....they are the same head :y
As already stated, 98 onwards the heads had extra castings and tapping to support the coil packs as used on the 2.6 setup.

I have a pair of 2.6 heads here, just as a note not sure what feedback score you have on E-Bay but if international buyers ever contact me for bits and they only have up to 10 for their feedback i'm not always interested in dealing with them.

LOL I sold a guy an Omega 2.6 engine about a month ago and he had to convert it to fit in his Vectra, I undersold it as well :(
