Hi chaps, my Mig has been taking 30-40 minutes to get any heat going, the temp gauge is the same as it always is at 85-90 iirc, I assume it's the stat but have seen some people mentioning HBV, any advice welcome.
-
Doesn't sound like stat.
Try it with the vac to HBV disconnected.
-
Not likely to be the stat ! crikey glad I posted thought it was 99%, I'm just looking at the HBV removal guide, http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90574.0 it's up under the scuttle then, bit awkward to get to by the look of it, but the vaccum pipe I need to disconnect is the one arrowed in the pic.
-
If the gauge reaches approx mid point on the gauge within 2-3 miles, the stat is OK.
HBV vac is the small pipe on the top
-
Right thanks, I will repport back when I get the chance to disconnect vac pipe, probably over weekend, can I disconnect it without removing scuttle ?

I can, but then I've done it before. Basically, it is possible, but really tight/fiddly first time around

Don't forget to bung up the vacuum pipe with a piece of tape or a small screw ;)
These engines don't like vacuum leaks :)
-
Ok so disconnect vacuum pipe and bung it up, what am I looking for after ? should my heating work ? and if it does do I need a new HBV.

1 step at a time ;)
If that works, you have a vac problem, that we can advise on :y
If it doesn't, I reckon you'll be flushing the heater matrix :(
-
My mate came round today and he got his hand in and pulled off the vac pipe(it's still off) we sealed it up but it didnt seem to make any difference to the heating, those pipes that come out of the bulkhead are hot though, so whats the consensus chaps ?
-
I see there are plenty of heater related threads as the weather gets colder :) am I looking at a matrix flush guys or possible HBV change or maybe something else ?
-
I would probably be thinking of a matrix flush....
-
Ok cheers, I think I saw a guide for that I'l have a look.

Unless someone near you has decent code reading facilities, might be worth checking what the climate panel thinks the temps are... ...although on HI, I think it should ignore temps, and just try to heat as much as possible
-
You can also get your hands on the metal pipes which feed the heater matrix through the firewall. It's fiddly but possible. If they are not as hot as the coolant in the engine bay (with the vac tubes off) then you definitely need to flush. If they get hot in line with the engine bay then you need to look at the heater electrical system :y

Do check the climate control actuator rods are connected as per the maintenance guide

What guide is that part in ? i've had no luck searching for climate control actuator rods.

As with all guides, if anyone does this, please take pics and send them to us :y
