Title: What is the significance of this
Post by: Terbs on 06 December 2012, 13:18:10
Hi all...
Firstly, for those who have not seen my blue omega, where there is a small piece of bubbling under the rear wiper, I have stuck the letters OOF over it till I get round to sorting it

Just had a strange one....doorbell rang and a fella there flogging double glazing. Said I was not interested, no probs. Then he said 'Was I a fan of Smokey and the bandit'.  ??? ???
He said 'It was a film made years ago' I said 'I know'
Then he said 'I saw the OOF on the back of the car and thought you were a 'Smokey' fan.....
I said...'Err sorry' ???
He just said..'No its ok, just wondered'... and off he went with a 'Have a nice day, sir'

Does someone know the connection with OOF on my car and Smokey and the bandit ??? ??? ???

Just done a quick google, and nothing obvious. The only thing I can find is in the script http://www.script-o-rama.com/movie_scripts/s/smokey-and-the-bandit-script.html
Not sure what oof1 means, but it appears quite a lot.  :-\

Couple of the times in the film it is said ....

One is when Sheriff see's The Bandit

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVKMNw0uUGw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVKMNw0uUGw) around 1:25 in

Also when Snowman first see's Sally Fields fine pert buttocks. (I think cant find a clip)

Know the film as me and big bruv used to watch it over and over about 30 years ago

The only part I can think that's of any relevance is the part when the Sheriff is talking to Smokey (Reynolds) on the CB when he's filling up at the 'gas' station, Smokey asks Sheriff Beauford T Justice <<<(is that his name?) if he knows what the initials F.O. stand for?

Not exactly tha same as OOF, but your salesman may have been mistaken, or simply trying to make a connection......(then sweet talk you into buying some double glazing, they try to do that you know  ;) )
