Thanks lizzie ;)
Have you got a trade card martin ::) :-\
So BP are very expensive considering Hfods price :(

So that`s just under £1.20 for 2.5ltrs of water if it`s been mixed 50/50
-
poundland for me or tesco/asda when its on special offer :y
i wouldnt insult my wallet by having a halfords trade card, although i do have a GSF 1 tho :)

I have saved £'s with the Halford's TC, on all kinds of bits, including tools, that I do not buy at Vx with my TC. 8) 8)

I brought some tablet screen wash that makes up to 22 litres, you get 5 tablets for 99p they seam very good so far :y
-
I buy screenwas during the summer when it's really cheap
-
I buy the vx stuff on trade club, its very good and cheap plus it works to silly low temps even at 25% concentration plus unlike much of the cheap stuff, it doesn't grow in the summer
-
I buy the cheap,o stuff from tesco, the concentrated one.works well enough and hasn't frozen. :P

but as Mark says, it's the cheapo screen wash that tends to block your washer pump filter with a microbiological slime ;)
-
I get the Makro own brand when its on offer. Generally run it 75/25 most of the year but go 50/50 about now and, if its really cold/snowy/ use it neat. Genrally a couple of quid a gallon when on offer. I have prob about 6 gallons or more in reserve on the shelf at any one time and really lets the kids take the piddle - untill they need some for their cars!!
Irrespective of which addative you use, make sure its concentrate and not ready use. At least that way you can smel, its either neat or almost neat.... :)
-
To stop the slime in washer bottles put a cup full of meths in the washer throughout the summer.
.
As a warning that slime can contain legionnaires or other nasty germs.so be carefull.

Easier to buy the better/dearer stuff ;) ;)

The local Vauxhall dealer doesn't stock GM screen wash (he get's it for you you if you order it) but stocks Car Plan's ....... which incidently is made up the road from here by Tetrosyl :y :y :y

My local factor does me 25lt of the Carplan stuff for around fifteen quid with the vat :y
-
I have bought the cheap diluted stuff before and a lot of the times it has frozen either in the wash bottle or in the pipes to the jets :( So ill be looking at the concentrated stuff , although a bit dearer its worth the extra :y
-
Never buy pre mixed, always concentrate, and use the correct concentration.
I tend to use GM (bit foamy on PFL headlights) or the cheap Holts stuff when Costco have it on offer. Neither seem to cause problems (beyond the GM 5l bottle spout design).
-
Ill only need a litre of it :P
This will do then http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/car-maintenance/wilko-all-seasons-screen-wash-concentrated-1ltr/invt/0075858/?VBMST=screen%20wash
Better than £5.40 wishy washy 1 ltr stuff from bp .

Tend to buy mine in Makro too... It's often on BOGOF at various prices (cheapest was £1.99 for 5L) and normally stock up. Mind you, I'm almost out ::)
Trip to Makro tomorrow then ::) :D
-
Got a litre of it and topped it up , thats that job done for 12 months now ;D
-
I find the vx stuff leaves chalky marks when it dries out. :-\
Carplan (and another make, Holts? ) at macro under bogof. I came away with about 8 5litre bottles of concentrate for about £15 last time. Can't remember exactly. I'm only now on my last bottle, must have been two years ago, and it goes in both our cars obviously.
No freezing issues, no goop in the bottle as the top hat filter is perfectly clear. And no residue on the screen.
-
I,ve used the Asda branded stuff for years. Never had any problems with it.
Keith B
-
Used Lidl's own stuff for a couple of years now.
Never had any fungus in the jets.
Cleans the glass ok
Doesn't freeze if you mix it right and basicly does what it says on the tin :y
-
I tend to use a bit of wet and dry wrapped around my windscreen wipers, doesn't improve vision, but gets rid of flies and muck.

You are definitely on something. ;D

My lad takes his truck to Norway so he bought some super dooper, neat, undiluted, guaranteed not to freeze screen wash and............................it froze in the container. ;D ;D

I use VW's posh stuff, only because I like how it smells. I'm such a pansy sometimes.

I'm still using the bargain gm opticlean I bought at about £2 per 5litres about 3 years ago. Bought loads and still have loads. Thumbs up from me. Works well and doesn't freeze

Its good stuff, but I found on the MFL headlight washers, used to leave streams of foam down the side of the car, esp in winter (presumably due to stronger mix). Doesn't seem to do it on FL headligght washers, no idea why :-\

Headlight washers , baah just a magnet for kids to pull off in the car park >:( twice now :(
-
Failed.
Washers froze on the way in this morning. And once you've pressed wash wipe theres no stopping the wipers. Slight visibility issues. ::)
Lickily I had a bottle of water in the car. Window down, sploshed the windscreen, and away.
Must have had a brain fart last time I filled it up, as I noticed the outside tap left on, hose under full pressure and frozen solid. So that'll all be f@cked when it thaws out.
Arse. Failed. :(
-
Aye , i put concentrate in mine and it froze yesterday till the boiler V6 thawed it out ::) - 5 today .

I did that last year only I didn't notice until it thawed out and I arrived home to a geyser of water spraying from the garden tap..

No probs here either (-7.3 on garden thermometer), though running at 33% though, and suspect will be soon at 50%, as its gonna get chilly
