hi every 1 not been on for a while as been busy but i need your help please :)
now I have a 3.0 v6 omega that has a problem that is driving me nuts now
so from start up from cold it is fine, revs up ok and is like a roket but after abut 20 min it starts to feel abit down on power and when at a constant speed it feels like it is surging like asthou 1 bank is lower on power to the other and it also will NOT rev past 3500 rpm(bounces like it hits the limiter but slower) and no EML light or any other warning light comes on at all. i however have had a new coil pack,HT leads, plugs, fuel filter, oil and filter change and a blanked egr valve
so if any 1 has any idear what it could be please let me know as it will be much appreciated

I'm off this week. You're welcome to pop down to me (at less than 3500rpm :P ) and we'll give it a once over :) :y

thanks for the offer mate but not got the time or the cash at the mo as its so close to x-mas and it would take me more than 2 hrs to get to you lol :-)
-
...and no EML light or any other warning light comes on at all.
Does it come on with the ignition lights when you first start the car?
-
have you got the lambda sensors back-to-front ?
-
EML light works as it should and the lamda sensors have been in same position for the last 4 years
:-)
-
managed to have a look at it and changed the IAV and the MAF no change so while it was running i unpluged the cam sensor and EML came on (flikering) but still was the same then unpluged the crank sensor still the same but no EML light.
so im going to get the cam and crank sensors as there what most have advised me that it could be just hope i get it sorted soon as not got much cash to throw at it.
has any 1 else had this sort of problem ?
-
Changing cam and crank sensors without proper diagnostics is likely to be just a waste of your hard earned mate - have you paperclipped it? Any codes?
-
as ive sead it has no errors and i now it is not a mechanical as it is sweet to drive but just not rev over 3500 rpm ???
-
Its in limp mode which means the ecu is seeing a fault - you need codes reading - post codes up here to help diagnostics.
If its "sweet to drive" unlikely to be dodgy cam or crank sensor ;)
-
Ok mate thanks and ill guess I will have to get a reader for it or do the paper clip test if some 1could show me with a pic and how to as not done it before to be honest
-
not being able to rev above 3500 sounds like a fueling problem, imp mode wont allow above rev above 1500.
change fuel filter also you could have some dodgee fuel not unknown these days,
-
Been throu 3 tanks of fuel at different stations already and have a new filter since . I have though it could be my fuel pump on its way out or the pressure reg not working correctly ?
-
Urm.
make sure all vacum pipes are fitted correctly on the pressure regulator, and.not leaking.
if you have a regulator then try it,dosnt sound like a sensor as no eml light,

not got a spair reg but i was going to up rait it any way .
but the TC light came on yesterday wouldnt go out even if i pushed the tc button car hadnt moved as i was working on it but it went off when i switched the engine off then back on again
-
If no oil in the plug wells then I'd be looking at a hot pressure test. Losing any coolant?
-
not loosing any oil, water or ant other fluid and temp is freading as norm
-
you need one of the mechanics an here to have a look. You are not far from Daz (Darth Loo-Knee) or Pete (Elite Pete) either will be able to find it :y
-
well i live norten canes cannock staffs so how far are thay then ?
-
Daz is in Stoke :y
-
Daz is in Stoke :y
cool ;D
also got 3 vids
1 is paper clip test engine on and up to temp
1 is paper clip test engine off
and 1 is how it revs

it sounds like something is loose :o
The real question is which of those codes are recent and which are historical. Have you one any work on the ar recently as it souds like something is not plugged in properly.
Codes are:
19 - Possible crank sensor on the way out. But dont replace until you have cleared the codes and reread them
73 - MAF voltage high
74 - MAF voltage low. These two suggest that the connector is loose.
21 - TPS voltage high
94 - Hall sensor voltage high. IIRC these sensors are all on the same part of the loom so one of them is loose or disconnected. Take them all off and push them in until they click properly.
-
i thout 19 was incorrect RPM signal as i checked on the forum for the codes and how do i clear them

31 is no rpm

19 is incorrect RPM but it comes from the crank sensor.
I had this a while ago, last time it rained a lot! Came on, went out and never showed it's head again....
You need to clear the codes before trying to re-read them...
-
hodo i clear them ? is it just a case of battery of over night sort of thing ?
-
Sounds silly but have you removed inlet ram pipe set up recently?
-
they clear on their own after a while but we need to know which ones are current. FOr that you need a tech2 or a code reader that will delete codes. OBD2 I think....
I have a Maxiscan here and I am driving up north on the M6 to see family but I cannot drop by until the 27th.
Edit: just checked, my code reader wont work on the 3.0 :(

This is precisely my train of thinking also :y
-
Think you got 2 electrical connections around wrong way-some you can-I did on my salloon Air temp+solonoid connectors are the ones to check :y :y :y :y Humour me and check mate-not a wind up- :y :y :y

i have about 3 month ago to do the coil pack, plugs and ht leads
the thing is i mostly do short journeys so it realy up to temp and i mostly potter about to save on fuel and only notest the prob when i had to use the motorway

one other thing if happens after engines warmed up could be air leak from top plenum chamber-expands =leaks Been there too :o :o ::) ::)

if the weather gets better then i think i will strip it down and re do

well ive striped it down again ,looked for torn pipes ,checked plugs and all seam ok but i have put sealent on all the seals to make sure there are no leaks just need to let sealent set and test it tomorrow if no change then try crank sensor :y
just hope i sort it soon :'(

Just out of interest, have you checked the exhaust. Herman gave all these symptoms, although he wouldn't rev past 2 1/2. Cause of the problem was loose wadding in the back box that had plugged the tail pipe. Simple temporary solution was a firm shove with a 2' breaker bar and drill a series of 12mm holes in the silencer to let the gas out in case it plugs up again whilst waiting for the replacement.

The exhaust seems fine but I will check it but the problem was only when it is at full working temp and I even have trouble getting throu mot's as the exhaust takes forever to get hot so I don't think it could be that

finaly got round to fitting my crank sensor after having to send the first 1 back as it was the wrong 1 lol only to find out there is 3 types for mine. any way now it is done it seems to be running grate and all that ive got to do now is order a new IAV so it will run smoothly :-)
so id like to say thank you to all who have helped with all sorts of possible idears :y :y
