You may not know his name but William James Corbin DFC died today.
He was a Battle of Britain pilot who flew over 500 combat missions to keep this country's democracy safe for the future generations.
A hero in my book, and we should all salute his passing remembering the sacrifice of so many young men during that crucial battle.
Never forget.
RIP

One more of the brave few to leave us, thank you for every thing you risked and gave to this country.
RIP WILLIAM JAMES CORBIN.
Say the name loud and proud.

Although I've never heard of the chap it is indeed a sad loss, although the war was won by all the services including the often unsung heroes of the merchant navy it could not have been won without the air superiority so successfully championed by those young Battle of Britain pilots[and of course their ground crews.I truly hope with never have such need of such brave people again.
