Evening all,
My dad rang tonight ref his mig and was wondering if you can help please?
The wipers operate fine, but when he turns them off, they no longer park in the normal position but in the middle of the screen.
Turn them on again, they goto the bottom of the screen and continue to work as normal??
Any ideas what causes this please?
TIA :y

ive found its to do with the contacts in the motor, they get dirty or worn out so dont know where to park the wipers, new motor time unless you fancy stripping it down to clean contacts hth
-
or the other prob i can think of is the perm live feeds fuse has blown or broken wire, thats how it manages to keep operating after switch turned off till it hits park position

Mechanism has slipped on the motor shaft, probably stuck to the screen in the recent cold weather.
It's just a case of undoing the nut on the motor shaft, repositioning the wipers, then do the nut back up. There are marks on the casting to guide positioning. |< | or something like.
Might need the scuttle off, first time you do it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!!
I'll check that it hasn't slipped first as you suggested Chris, then work my way round fuses and finally the motor change.
He's due over next week, so I can check it for him then!!
Thanks again :y

That's the one ....... as you say, not checked the wipers weren't frozen to the screen before they were switched on :)

Mine recently slipped as I'd left the wipers on auto and they were frozen when I started the engine :-[ :-[
Fortunately it was fixable by moving the wipers themselves as they were still parking at the bottom, just going too far and the N/S was hitting the wing ::)

yes thats nearly cought me out a couple of times. rain the night before on the way home, followed by freezing conditions the next morning. Luckily, the wiperrs broke free before they slipped and lost the park position.
